Thanks to one of my favorite Zaar vegetable recipes for inspiring this herb mixture. I make a small jar of this, then have it on hand when I need a quick ZIP to add to cooked (frozen) broccoli or cauliflower or vegetable medleys. Ideas below for add-ins to make a memorable side dish the kids will be begging you to make again and again!

Ingredients

Flavor Mixture

Crunch-worthy Add-Ins

Directions

  1. 1
In a small bowl, combine Flavor Mixture ingredients; store in a small jar with a tight lid.
  2. 2
Add 1 - 2 teaspoons of Flavoring Mixture (use your own judgment of how much you'd like to add) to your broccoli or cauliflower or asparagus (about a minute before serving, along with some melted butter and a couple hands-ful of crumbs. Stir well and finish heating per package instructions.
  3. 3
I've sprinkled French-fried onions over the top (they don't get crunchy but they add enormous flavor!, and that's been met with rave reviews too.
  4. 4
Sprinkle some parmesan cheese over the top OR another handful of crunchy bread crumbs and serve.
  5. 5
This mixture (and the toasted crumbs) will jazz up even the most boring frozen veggies--into something sort-of special.
