Transylvanian Cabbage Pie

SERVES 4 -6 , 1 pie (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • raised bread dough
  • 1 kg cabbage
  • salt and pepper
  • 3-4 tablespoons oil

Directions

  1. 1
    Cut cabbage in very thin slices.
  2. 2
    Saute in the oil adding the salt and pepper and stirring continuously.
  3. 3
    When thoroughly soft and tender set aside to cool.
  4. 4
    Roll out the raised bread dough ,.
  5. 5
    Put rolled dough, 1/2 inch thick, in greased pie pans and fill with the cooled sauteed cabbage.

    Fold overlapping dough, brush with melted butter (or milk or cream).
  7. 7
    Cover and place in a warm place to rise again.
  8. 8
    Bake at 350° in preheated oven about 30 or 40 minutes.
