I have been making this soup for years, but use 1-1/2 lbs of ground beef in this recipe. The extra 1/2 lb thickens up the soup nicely. If using 1-1/2 lbs of ground beef, be sure to use 6 tablespoons of taco seasoning, or 1-1/2 packets of the taco mix. I also add 1/4 teasp of the cayenne red pepper, rather than an 1/8 teasp. When making this soup, be sure you don't drain the liquid from the can of pork & beans, as it is need in the soup. For those who enjoy taco soup, you will definitely enjoy this one. It's a great tasting soup! One more thing... If you use 1-1/2 lbs of ground beef, this will make 8 servings, also, this soup is very good without topping it with the taco chips, cheese, or sour cream.
