Less-messy than a taco, and you don't have to bend your head side-ways to eat them either! A tasty twist on the same-old thing burger! Something different to serve for Cinco de Mayo, too!!! Thanks to Taste of Home Holiday (Barbecues) cookbooklet for this recipe, Summer 2009.

6 burgers (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Taco Seasoning

The Other Stuff

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup finely crushed yellow corn chips
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

Taco-y Toppings

Directions

  1. 1
In a small bowl, combine Taco Seasoning Ingredients; set aside.
  2. 2
Crumble burger in a large mixing bowl, sprinkle Taco Seasonings over the meat, mix in with hands, let rest 15-30 minutes (melding of the flavors!).
  3. 3
When that has perfumed the air sufficiently, add the corn chips and egg; mix well, then shape into SIX patties.
  4. 4
Broil or grill burgers, juices run clear, 160* on a meat thermometer.
  5. 5
Add a slice of cheese right before removing from heat.
  6. 6
Serve on buns with lettuce, tomato and salsa (if desired).
