These nuts are great on top of a delicious salad, but are also good as a snack. Because there is no butter, it keeps the calorie count low! This recipe is from Southern Living's 40 Years of our Best Recipes cookbook.

1 cup (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Stir together 1/4 cup sugar and warm water until sugar dissolves. Add pecans; soak 10 minutes. Drain, discarding syrup.
  2. 2
Combine 2 tbsp sugar, chili powder, and red pepper. Add pecans, tossing to coat. Place pecans on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  3. 3
Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes, stirring once halfway through.

FANTASTIC!! As my wife stated "sugar and spice and everything nice" . Loved these, especially the chili powder, seeing I have a kick for spicy stuff here and there. So simple to make too. Made for PRMR tag.

Mmmm! Sugar and spice and nuts. No that was not an oops these nuts are the every thing nice. A great flavorful, low fat snack that I will be making many times over.

I made this recipe today for Zaar Tag and loved it! Very easy and quick recipe. Even with the chile powder and ground red pepper, it was not hot, just spicy and seasoned perfectly. I had planned to sprinkle the nuts on a spinach/strawberry salad, however, I can't guarantee that there will be any left after we finish sampling them. Thanks for sharing this Breezermom.
