Sweet and Spicy Brussels Sprouts

I received the inspiration for this dish while trying to figure out what to do with a bag of frozen brussels sprouts I found in the freezer. My husband and I both enjoyed the end result. Adjust the ingredients to your individual tastes. Leave the bacon out if you want it vegetarian. You could use fresh brussels sprouts as well; they would probably need to be cooked for a few minutes first.

SERVES 4 , 4 cups (change servings and units)

Ingredients

12 ounces Brussels sprouts
3-4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 tablespoon walnut oil
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. If using frozen brussels sprouts, let them thaw out. Cut sprouts in half.

Combine all ingredients in a 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. You want a nice caramelized look to them.
