Super Steak and Gravy

Recipe #377927 | 2¼ hours | 10 min prep | add private note

By: Chef Carper
Jun 20, 2009

This is my Super Steak and Gravy. Its super easy to prep and taste like a 5 star restaurant dish ! Best part about this dish is that you can use any cut of steak and it will still be moist and delicious.

SERVES 6 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs steak, any cut will do
  • 2 cups turkey gravy
  • 2 cups beef gravy
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 large onions

  • 2 (8 ounce) jars sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup flour
  • salt, pepper and garlic
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

Directions

  1. 1
First get a large glass baking dish, cut 2 onions into long slices.Add half your onions into the bottom of the baking dish along with 1 jar of mushrooms .Save the other jar of mushrooms and other half of onions for later.
  2. 2
Fill a frying pan with veg oil .Heat your veggie oil over med. heat till hot enough to fry.
  3. 3
Cut your steaks into large strips or you can leave whole if you like.
  4. 4
mix flour salt garlic and pepper to taste.Flour your steak in the flour mix.Fry your steak in the oil until browned.
  5. 5
Once browned ,put your steaks over the mushroom and onion mix, that are in your baking dish. Now add the rest of your onions and mushrooms on top of the steaks.
  6. 6
(Now for the gravy,I use packets of gravy and it takes 1 cup of water per package of gravy.so 4 packs will make 4 cups of gravy, but you will need to add an additional cup of water so that the gravy wont burn or be too thick )in a large mixing bowl, mix your 5 cups of water with your 4 packets of gravy mix.Making sure you mixed all lumps out of the gravy.((Do not! cook the gravy before adding to the dish!)) Pour the gravy mix into and over your dish, making sure that it covers the steak and onions well.
  7. 7
Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 2 hours at 375 degrees until fork tender.
