This unique and amazing candy makes a great gift

SERVES 10 -15 , 1 1/2 pounds (change servings and units)

    Butter the sides of a heavy saucepan.
  2. 2
    add Sugar, corn syrup and water and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  3. 3
    cook and stir over medium low heat until candy thermometer reads 260 degrees.
  4. 4
    stir in sunflower seeds and butter quickly.
  5. 5
    cook until 300 degrees.
  6. 6
    remove from heat and stir in vanilla and baking soda.
  7. 7
    pour into a buttered baking pan and spread evenly.
  8. 8
    cool completly and break into pieces.
