Sugar Crusted Raisin Bars 1969

I received this recipe in 1969 when baking to sell , from my sisters mother in law Anne O"Rielly. Nice simple recipe, and not expensive. Usually ingredients are always on hand.

SERVES 16 -20 , 24 bars (change servings and units)

    Heat oven 350 degrees.

    Grease 8 inch baking pan and line if desired with buttered parchment.
  3. 3
    Rinse raisins well, and then drain.
  4. 4
    Beat egg , stir in the sugar, vanilla, and melted margarine.

    Add sifted dry ingredients and then stir in the raisins.
  6. 6
    Spread into prepared pan.
  7. 7
    Mix the sugar and cinnamon together, and sprinkle over batter evenly.

    Bake for 22- to 25 minutes in moderate oven, until tester comes away clean.

    Cool in pan.

    Cut into 24 bars.
