Squashed Burgers and Chips

I don't care much for potato chips alone, but when I dine out and they serve them as a side to burgers, I just put em right in the burger. It adds a wonderful crunch to plain ole burgers (Ruffles work great, but regular or any flavor chip will do. Try BBQ flavored!). We hope you enjoy the fun in this recipe. Ingredients

Burgers

condiments

Directions

  1. 1
Heat skillet or grill to medium-high. Using the ground beef, form 4 patties of uniform size.
  2. 2
Place in skillet or on grill and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Cook 5-6 minutes per side or until desired doneness. Add cheese the last few minutes to melt.
  3. 3
TO THE BOTTOM BUN: place the burger with cheese. Top with potato chips (be generous here).
  4. 4
TO THE TOP BUN: spread some mayo. Place a leaf of lettuce, followed with a few slices of tomato and onion. Squirt a bit of ketchup over the chips.
  5. 5
NOW HERE'S THE FUN PART: Carefully fold top half over chips. Now using your palm, squash it down firmly, hearing the chips crunch down good (really just to get it to fit in your mouth, lol). Grab lots of napkins and enjoy.

A very novel idea, that works a treat. I used barbecue flavour (as suggested),and it was very tasty, and the crunch is a nice texture addition. Definately one for the younger members of the family!

Made for the kids tonight, since they are having a sleepover, so my 11 year old,and his 3 friends are reviewing this on a piece of paper, and I am typing this. First they think these are better than my hamburgers, and they liked the idea of the potato chips on top, sometimes I crush the chips, and mix it up with the grond meat. They also prefer ground sirloin to ground beef, and they really enjoyed these with some fries. Made for Prmr tag.

Yummy yummy. If your going to have potato chips with a burger, might as well throw them on the burger! I did use plain ruffles chips, but it would be fun to try flavored ones...maybe dill pickle flavored? or some of the spicy kinds? I like the crunch for a different texture. What a simple and tasty burger. Thanks for sharing! Made for PRMR tag.

This is a very tasty twist on the usual burger! I never thought of adding the chips to the burger. I love the crunch. I'll have to try additional flavors of chips. I only lettuce and tomato on my burgers so I just added those two condiments. Thanks for sharing! Made for Photo Tag.
