Spiced Walnuts

My grandmother's recipe. Makes a wonderful Christmas gift and fits right in on the Thanksgiving table. Also good in salads.

SERVES 6 , 1 lb spiced walnuts (change servings and units)

Ingredients

    Preheat oven to 250°F.
  2. 2
    Whip the egg whites and water until frothy. Add walnuts to coat, then drain in sieve.
  3. 3
    In a paper bag, mix sugar and spices. Shake well.
  4. 4
    Add walnuts until coated.
  5. 5
    Lay walnuts on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake at 250 F for 15 minutes.

    Lower heat to 225 F and continue baking until dry and crisp.
  7. 7
    Eat warm or store in an airtight container.
