Brown Bag It: Creative On-the-Go Lunches

When school starts up again, what are the last five words you want to hear during that early morning rush to catch the bus? Awww, Mom, not PB&J again! Skip the same ol' sandwiches and upgrade to interesting tortilla wraps, unexpected sandwiches and creative tasty treats and we bet they'll be singing a different tune.

If peanut butter is truly the only thing they'll eat, you can still mix it up with one of our many unpredictable takes on the classic PB&J. Your kid's face will light up when they see that you've taken lunch to the next level and their brown bag is the envy of the playground. You might not receive tons of praise for your creative lunch, but perhaps it'll make that morning commute a little more pleasant, which we are guessing is thanks enough!

Quick Turkey Roll Ups "Fresh twist on a traditional turkey roll up. A good quick snack or lunch and higher in protein."-- LAURIE

Tuna Salad Rollup "As we were walking through the grocery store, we stopped to try a sample at the Deli. We went home and made our own version and it tasted even better. Easy, tasty and you can make a low-fat version."-- Dawn

Brown Bag Ideas - Fiesta Lunch "If you're tired of unhealthy, expensive grab-and-go lunches, give this a try!"-- CountryLady

Peanut Butter, Honey and Chocolate Chip Wrap "I made this for my 7 year old and 3 year old today. My 3 year old ate it all, and she never finishes her lunches."-- Burned Toast

Sandwiches That'll Make Them Smile

Two Toned Sandwiches (Lunch Box Surprise) "Kids tire of the same old sandwich, so I came up with this as a new and fun way to make sure he doesn't skip his sandwich!"-- NcMysteryShopper

Sticky Mouth Sandwich "Sinfully delicious. You can substitute 1/2 banana, sliced, for the apple. I also tried one time substituting crushed pineapple for the layer of apple slices and it tasted good."-- echo echo

Zoo-pendous Sandwiches "These kid-friendly sandwiches, cut into animal shapes, sound so adorable!"-- Kree

If they are like my little munchkins (now 22), when I got creative she traded her's for junk food (aged 13 to 17), found out when she left school at 18.

My big kid (DH) is tired of soup and sandwiches but since he is detoxing from mercury poisoning and my canning is going slow I don't know what else to put in his lunch that is truly lunch fare. End of garden will bring soups and stews but right now I am in pickle mode. Any easy to transport grown up lunch ideas? Secret Agent
