I can't wait to try some of these recipes - thank you so much for putting together such a great combination of make-ahead meals. Should be just about perfect as we get into our busy fall with sports and school. Thanks again!
We love to have new visitors over in the forum! Lots of freezable recipes to suggest to anyone looking
Okay so maybe I am missing something here but I see nothing aobut how to convert these to frezzer meals. Do you cook everythind first and then freeze the ccompleted meals or do you chop assemble and label the raw ingrediates to be taken out and popped into the oven or on the stove the day I plan to serve it. Most of these meals sound really good but I am one who needs a few more details.
Thank you for putting all of these in one spot. I am always on the look out for a recipe that matches our lifestyle. I have already made out the shopping list for this weeks trials!
and one more great freezer recipe to add....Kittencal's Freezer Baked Ziti (Oamc)
I am really looking forward to trying some of these recipes...I actually have a few "make ahead meals" of my own that I should post on here. I'm new here, so when I find time, I will post my recipes. I am a foodie, and love to talk and trade recipes!
It's too bad we have so many allergies. I didn't find one that we could make. Bummer. Stinks when you have a kid with 12 food allergies and one with gluten intolerance!
Wi CHEESEHEAD ~ Is it possible for you to get ideas from these and simply use your imagination to innovate a similiar all new "just for you, kiddo" meal? We didn't have food allergies, but were poor, an I remember back some 40 years making the only thing in the house which was bologna & eggs. I sprinkled green food coloring on them as I fried them & excitedly called them to say OMG...SAM I AM WAS JUST HERE & COOKED YOU LUNCH!!! They loved it. I saw the grown up kid next door at a funeral, and she reminded me that she never forgot that & how cool she thought that was.
Sure would love some recipes for gluten sensitive, dairy allergy and egg allergy. Really hard to find anything that tastes good. I am also a type 2 dibetic so that doesn't help.
These Freezer Recipies are an absolute life saver. Thanks so much for co-ordinating all the ideas.
These recipes rock!!!!
I printed off 8 of these recipes to try right away. I saved these 8 plus quite a few more to my Cookbook & look fwd to making some of them when my son comes home. Thanks for this great list.
I would add this recipe to the list - oh so good! Saucy Beef Tips With Egg Noodles (Inspired by Dream Dinners) (1 reviews) Posted by Chef Louisiana Girl Saucy Beef Tips With Egg Noodles (Inspired by Dream Dinners) This hearty all-in-one beef dish is packed with delicious strips of sirloin, onions, diced fresh carrots, diced fresh celery and a savory sauce that blends the flavors of garlic, sun dried tomatoes, red wine, rosemary and thyme. Slow cooked...
I just got a new freezer. These are wonderful ideas.
Do I cook the reciepes first & then freeze or freeze and then cook on the day I want them. margarite_newhouse@yahoo.com
I love the recipe for the Poverty Meal. It reminds me of my mom's stroganoff. We couldn't afford steak, so she would make it with ground beef, cream of mushroom soup and canned green beans. Me and my sister loved it and named it "Ghetto Stroganoff." One night my mom surprised us and made it with steak. We hated it and begged her to make it Ghetto-style the next time! It is still my favorite, but I think I will have to make room in my heart for this recipe. Thanks, again!
To the posters with food allergies and with gluten free needs, check out the OAMC forum. There are many chefs over there that are in the same boat. There have been tons of threads asking for meals for specific diets. Everyone is very helpful, and eager to find solutions to assist others. Please join us!
Thank you, thank you so much! We are expecting our third baby late this fall, and this is just what I needed for make-ahead ideas to pack our freezer full before he/she arrives!
I agree with Dr. Momde47, I too, need more instructions on how to actually freeze and then serve these recipes successfully. I have only frozen soups, chili/beans, and lasagna before. Please help. Thanks.
Also another one that needs help. Thanks!
Starting Uni again soon...last year spent so much on food it was unbelievable..also the time spent preparing each and every meal is time wasted on revising!!! Engineering is a difficult topic
need lots of brain food
Saved on my blog, must start this year could save a fortune and eat healthly too! Thanks for the recipes from the UK
The entire September freezer cooking menu and all the recipes from Once a Month Mom have been adapted on these two webpages to be gluten and dairy free. Hope this can be of help. http://angelaskitchen.wordpress.com/2009/09/11/gluten-free-zer-friday-breakfast-lunch-plan-september-2009/ and http://angelaskitchen.wordpress.com/2009/09/18/gluten-free-zer-friday-september-2009-oam-mom-dinners/
I love the posting of the top 25 OMAC, I notice there are only two Mexican dishes and no burritos for hungry teens. Sausage Bean Burritos #287682. I also serve these for breafast with the addition of scrambled eggs. These recipes are a God send to me all of them since I work from 11:00 p.m to 7:00 a.m, come home, take hubby to dialysis, sleep about four hours in the car, return home, have some time with family, get out supper and sleep a couple more hours before going to work. OMAC is a life saver for me. Thanks RecipeZaar for separating the recipes into groups.
We want more OAMC meals---25 is NOT enough! They all look delish! THX!!!!
