Cooking French food needn't be arduous or intimidating. Yes, the French do take their food seriously, but as a member of this site, so do you! Start off your adventure by mastering a few simple techniques which will serve you well the rest of your cooking career. Browse through our extensive collection of French recipes and you'll soon be whipping up crepes, soufflés or French onion soup like a pro. If you run into a hollandaise that curdles or a soufflé that flops, stop by our French, Creole and Cajun Cuisine forum where our many Francophile and French experts are ready to offer support.

Depending where you are in France, the style of cooking will vary by region. Re-create a Parisian bistro meal by putting out a crusty baguette, good butter and sharable plates of pate, grilled croque sandwiches, roast chicken and moules or mussels. If rustic country fare is more what you're after, indulge in a hearty crock of cassoulet, bouillabaisse or a savory quiche followed by a sweet rustic apple tart to end the meal. Once you've tackled some of these regional favorites, you'll be ready to try French Tart's French Lunch Menu where spending three-plus hours at the table is essential and immensely pleasurable. Experience the joie de vivre of France by cooking up some of its best dishes — you'll see how making every meal count is a delicious way to live. Bon appétit!

Browse through any of our French recipes and you'll see one name in particular come up again and again: our fabulous French Tart! FT or Tarty to some, is a transplant from Britain and is now running a Chambres D'Hotes (B&B) with her husband, lost amongst the grapevines in France. Peruse her detailed recipe titles and descriptions or her 2,200-plus beautifully lit photos and you'll see FT's lively personality jumping off the page. FT is very active in the French forum, along with co-hosts Chef Kate and chia, and would love a visit as the vin is never in short supply!

I spent a year as an "au pair" in Paris when I was 21 (a very long, long time ago). I cared for a baby, whose Mother and Grandmother were like miraculous cooking goddesses to me, though they both thought of themselves as absolutely ordinary cooks. During that year, I had meals I can vividly remember to this day! I can't wait to check out the French Forum. BTW, I'm a very new member of RZ.

The article is great. You know you structured everything in such an order that I think everybody will be able to learn a lot about French cuisine. As for me I like to cook . Especially i like Italian cuisine. I found a nice recipe book at the pdf format search engine http://pdf.rapid4me.com . It helped me a lot.
