Seafood Soup With Ginger Broth

An Asian flavored light seafood soup. Makes 8 first course servings, or 4 main course. If you like the flavor of fish sauce, substitute that for the soy sauce.

SERVES 4 -8 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

    Heat oil in large saucepan or Dutch oven.
  2. 2
    Add garlic, ginger, lemon peel and hot pepper flakes. Cook gently until very fragrant.
  3. 3
    Add broth, soy sauce and lemon juice and bring to boil.
  4. 4
    Add carrots. Reduce heat and simmer gently for 15 minutes.
  5. 5
    Add scallops, shrimp, sesame oil and green onions, Cook for just a few minutes, or until seafood is barely cooked.

    Serve sprinkled with cilantro.

This soup has an amazing flavour. I used half soy / half fish sauce. Just wonderful! I would say though, that the serving size is very small even if used for an appetizer, I would say this would make 4 servings for an appetizer. I would suggest to make extra. Made for Photo Tag

    Amazing soup, have made it a few times now, and realize that the low sodium is key, or it comes out too salty. Simply awesome
