Sarasota's Prosciutto Parmesan Twisted Breadsticks

Recipe #397702 | 25 min | 10 min prep | add private note

A nice "twist," no pun intended ... on store bought bread sticks. Thin slices of proscuitto, parmesan, mozzarella, and brushed with Italian spices and olive oil. A great side dish for any meal.

SERVES 12 , 12 Breadsticks (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 2 (11 ounce) cans pillsbury breadsticks

  • 12 slices prosciutto
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup herbed cheese (I like Alouette or Boursin, but you can use any brand)
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic, minced

Directions

  1. 1
Breadsticks -- After unrolling the breadstick dough there will be 12 perforations (or 12 breadsticks per can). I like to make mine a bit bigger, so I keep 2 sticks together and only make 6 sticks per can. Just take two breadsticks and press the seam together. You will end up with 12 large breadsticks.
  2. 2
Filling -- Mix the herb cheese and the parmesan together and spread on top of the breadstick. Then take each slice of proscuitto and cut in half lengthwise and put the two slices on the breadstick covering the cheese.
  3. 3
Twist and Bake -- Twist the breadsticks and place on a non-stick baking sheet, or one lined with parchment paper.
  4. 4
Mix the olive oil, garlic and Italian seasoning together and brush over the breadsticks, top and bottom. Bake in a 375 degree oven or according to the package directions. They will take between 15 to 20 minutes. Just check them after 15 minutes. Remove them from the oven when they turn golden brown.
  5. 5
    Just enjoy them!
