Whitefish in Adobo Sauce

Tasty, healthy and easy! The spicy tomato-orange sauce simmers for 20 minutes, tops whitefish fillets, and bakes for another half-hour. Very fresh and delicious served with my Mexican Saffron Rojo Rice and a cool salad! -- posted by EdsGirlAngie

Pan-seared Cod With Basil Sauce

This has a fresh pesto-like feel without the nuts, and a lot less fat. Any flaky white fish can be used here - I usually have tilapia or whitefish around rather than cod. I had an open bottle of Reisling and so I used that in place of the broth. From Cooking Light. -- posted by Vino Girl

Easy Baked Whitefish Ole'

I got this recipe off a package of frozen whitefish, and it was a lifesaver when I was drawing a mental block on what to cook one night. I added some black pepper to this, and I served the fish with rice, some corn, and a salad. Although this serves four, we can easily eat this all between the two of us. -- posted by Vino Girl

Not My Mom's Fried Fish

This is someone's Mom's fried fish recipe but it's not MY Mom. I found it in Taste of Home, June/July 2005 issue and made it tonight for dinner. It's very, very good and SO easy. The recipe called for the fish to be deep fried but I fried it in about 3/4 inch of oil in a large, heavy skillet. Also, the original recipe called for whitefish fillets, cut in half lengthwise....I used some thin Chilean sea bass fillets and it was excellent. I think any firm, white fish fillets will work. This recipe was printed in Taste of Home magazine and attributed to Julie in Wisconsin. Julie, if you ever become a member of Zaar, contact me and I'll ask Kathy to transfer this recipe over to you and thanks for the great dinner! -- posted by Hey Jude

This halibut, which is baked in the oven, gives you an easy way to enjoy the delicious combination of flavors and healthy benefits of halibut and fresh herbs. It is a wonderful way to have a light sauce for your fish with a lot of flavor and minimal effort.
This dish is so easy and simple that the key to its success is fresh ingredients. Dried herbs will not work for this recipe.

My Mom's Legendary Galicianer (Sweet) Gefilte Fish

My mother's gefilte fish is the stuff of legends. We have tried to reproduce it for years, with little success. We have watched her make it, measured, copied, you name it. Still, it is just not the same as the fish my mom makes. Hers is so delicious, even to people who just despise gefilte fish, that friends and family members will travel across the continent to have some. A tough act to follow. That said, here is the best approximation of my mom's classic fish that I can come up with. At least for now. I hope your family loves it as much as we do. -- posted by Sarah Chana

White Fish Fillets in Sauce Made With White Vinegar

This recipe has been made in my family since my grandmothers days- I am not sure of the origins but it could be some fusion recipe - maybe it was my grandmothers own creation but its a favorite with our family. Any firm fleshed white fish can be used.
This goes well with rice or pasta or just with some good hearty home made bread -- posted by Chef #357640 Mapleleaf 60

Homemade Authentic Gefilte Fish

Gefilte fish is the traditional first course of the Passover Seder meal in Ashkenazic homes. Horseradish is the accompaniment. The combination of fish listed is only a suggestion, and other proportions may be used, depending on tradition.
What most non-Jews don't understand is what IS Gefilte fish?? Gefilte means stuffed and refers to actual fish being stuffed with this mixture and then cooked - rarely done these days. I hope you enjoy this! Recipe from Ray Sokolov. Make in advance. Refrigeration time not included. -- posted by AniSarit
