Vietnamese Cabbage

A little unusual but easy side dish to prepare. Chinese cabbage can be used as well as ordinary cabbage. Some tabasco or red pepper flakes could spice it up quite nicely if desired. -- posted by Tebo

Vietnamese Spring Rolls

These spring rolls, served with dipping sauce are a favorite at our house. While they are a little tedious to make, the recipe makes about 20, so they can be frozen and then just thawed the next time. Cook time is approximate, it will depend on how many you make, and whether you need to do them in batches. -- posted by canarygirl

Green papaya salad

Goui/noam - Vietnamese salads 'Goui' is any shredded vegetable served raw with mint and basil or coriander plus many of the wild herbs which are not available here in the U.S. Here Green Papaya is generaly the vegetable of choice. On the top of the dish there is cooked meat, shrimp or beef jerky. Fish sauce dip is used as dressing for the dish. You can make 'goui' with any kind of vegetables as long as you shred, wash and drain them dry before adding any dressing to it. You can use shrimp crackers to serve with the salads. -- posted by 1Steve

Leftover Roast Beef Spicy Salad

Old Quarter Crab Spring Rolls

These unusual Vietnamese spring rolls are a breath of fresh air after all those Chinese takeaways ! They're fun to make and great as an appetizer, snack or main dish - the servings are for a main dish. I got this recipe when I went on a cooking course in Hanoi and this was one of four dishes I made. Some of the ingredients are a bit out-of-the-ordinary but I promise you, its worth it ! Make sure all th filling ingredients are chopped small enough - the filling should have a precooked-patty-like consistency. -- posted by NOOBchef

Hau's Vietnamese Spring Rolls

My friend and coworker used to bring these spring rolls to potluck lunches where they were inhaled by everyone. They are so delicious!
The number of egg rolls this recipe makes is an estimate.
The preparation and frying times depend on how quickly you can make the spring rolls and how many you're frying at that time.
The spring rolls can be made ahead of time, frozen and cooked when you need them. -- posted by Dreamer in Ontario
