Tuna Salad #4 : Tuna and White Bean Salad

This is a very simple, mild tuna salad. Prepping the onion as directed removes the raw onion bite. I like this on a bed of green salad.

Black Olive Tapenade

Every time I've made this super easy tapenade, I've had dozens of requests for the recipe. It's so delicious that I'm always tempted to eat it all myself! Finally I decided I'd post it a 'Zaar and point folks here. Maybe I'll save a tree in the process? (Note: This is a snap to make. The 6 hours of passive cooking time reflects how long it needs to chill before serving.) -- posted by VenomousKate

Isaiah's Tasty Reduced-Fat Tuna Salad

Less fat and more flavor! My favorite way to serve this sandwich is with a slice of tomato, a slice of avocado, and some lettuce, on toasted rye bread. The pickles and dill are key to the fabulous taste - The more sour the pickles the better (cornichons are great for this). You can try substituting a smaller amount of dried dill if you don't have access to fresh herbs. -- posted by What's Cooking?

Veronica's Italian Tuna Cake/Burger

Easy tuna cake to make for my 3 yr old that she really enjoys and I do as well. Suggest only using the good chunk tuna as the flavor is not so fishy and the texture is more firm. She prefers extra cheese so amounts obviously can vary Olive oil can be subbed for egg but using mayo gives it an off taste. Hope you find it enjoyable as well. -- posted by jennifer in new jersey

Fresh Herb Tuna Salad

This is adapted from the tuna salad at Noah's Bagels. The dill and green onion add a fresh herby flavor, the celery adds a satisfying crunch and the minimal amount of mayo makes this much more like a salad than the tuna goo normally presented as "tuna salad." It's quite good in a sandwich (or bagel!) as well - it helps to use your hand or an ice cream scoop to compress the salad onto the bread. -- posted by op_tic_nerve

Nana's Tuna Casserole Surprise

This has been in my family for at least thirty years. The story goes that one day my Nana received a call from Grandpa who told her to expect company that evening for dinner. She frantically threw together this delightful little casserole and completely astonished the guests. The ingredients are simple, but the flavors and textures combine in such a way that one is often unable to forget. -- posted by Chef #558426

Hipquest's Tuna Salad

This is the tuna salad to try for people who say they HATE fish. This is great on a sandwich or salad with crisp lettuce, fresh cucumbers, fresh tomatoes, whatever veggies strike your fancy. I have played with the basics to come up with something I like, things not included like raw onions and celery can be added. Eggs may be omitted. The technique of the tuna is the key. I have also made this with fresh grilled tuna. -- posted by hipQuest

Indigo's Ridiculously Good Tuna (Salad!)

My obsession with tuna really started at Tealuxe, the nummiest teahouse in Boston! This is my own special recipe; I really think the flavors are strong and the texture is satisfying. *Please note, the amount of mayo could be much more or less to taste, I really just throw in as much creaminess as I feel for at the time...

Seared Sesame Tuna

Entered for safe-keeping, from Sean Donnellan's "Something Tastes Funny", recipe by Naidre Miller. This cookbook is for new cooks or non-cooks. It doesn't get much simpler than this. This can also be made as an appetizer by slicing cooked tuna thinly and serving on toast points with an avocado slice. The key is really fresh tuna if you don't want to be reminded of all that canned stuff from childhood. Marination time is included in the preparation time. -- posted by KateL

Tuna Steak With Dalmatian Lemon-Garlic Sauce

For this meal you can use any kind of tuna, Blue Merlin, or “palamida” fish (something like white tuna, I do not know the English name) which you can find in Adriatic Sea. Lemon-garlic sauce is also sauce you can use for any kind of grilled fish, although you must be careful if you use white meat fish with delicate flavor – garlic can overcome so you will not taste the fish at all. In the photo I have submitted there is this “palamida” fish. -- posted by nitko

Anna's Tuna Soboro (Quick and Easy!)

Soboro is a salty-sweet Japanese dish that is used in many ways - you can put it into onigiri, serve it over rice, stir-fry it with veggies, or put it into scrambled eggs. It keeps in the refridgerator for a week and can be frozen, so you can easily make more than you need and have an easy meal later in the week. It seems that in Japan, they consider it a condiment. This is tuna soboro - there are different soboro recipes for different types of meat. Mind you- it was fresh, wild caught ahi- which can make a difference.
Tuna Patties

Simple dinner idea. We serve this with a veggie (usually broccoli or spinach) and either mac & cheese or fried potatoes.

You can use cracker crumbs instead of breadcrumbs. It's just to soak up some moisture.

The patties can be made earlier and set in the fridge. I've never frozen them, so you'll need to do your own experimentation for that!

You can cook these in a George Foreman grill, or in a skillet or frying pan. We like them fried! -- posted by Angel Stowe

Pasta With Tuna, Spinach, and Red Pepper Flakes

The original recipe came from the San Francisco Chronicle. The original recipe calls for arugula (which I love) but it's hard to find sometimes, so I switched to fresh spinach. If you can find an Italian tonno in olive oil (Bumble Bee has one in the gold can which I can easily find), then it's worth the extra money to use. However, I have used tuna in water when it was all I had in the pantry. Just drain the water and add a little olive oil to the can, since this tuna is a bit drier than the Italian version. Let it marinate for about an hour, then drain it and use. Canned tuna has never tasted so good!!! I love this recipe for a quick dinner that I can throw together out of the pantry in less than 30 minutes, and DH was surprised how good it was when he first tasted it. This is a good base recipe to add extra goodies (sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, artichokes, black olives, capers, etc.). I look forward to reading your comments with your add ins :) -- posted by CharlieGal
