Oj Surprise Smoothie

So Yummy and easy. I usually already have all this stuff. This is my little sweeties favorite (both of them! Now that's nearly impossible). I use non-fat vanilla yogurt instead of plain. We make these for after nap snacks and sometimes breakfast on the go! -- posted by Peyton&KaylansMama

Post Workout Shake (Magic Bullet)

I train at martial arts for an hour a day, often I am hungry afterwards but don't want a proper meal. I came up with this to fill the gap so to speak. The combination of fruits can be varied, I usually use what fruits are in season. You must use banana as a base as it provides potassium which is lost by the body during physical activity. The linseeds provide essential fatty acids and provide a bulking agent to make you feel full. I use a magic bullet to make this but a regular processor will also work -- posted by PinkCherryBlossom

Morning Smoothies for Two

A great way to start the day or you could make it as an afternoon snack for an energy boost. This has it all: potassium from the banana, antioxidants from the blueberries, Vitamin A from the peaches, calcium from the yogurt and milk, and Omega-3s from the flax seed. Plus, you can make this all year long.
Gingered Apple-Acorn Smoothie

The "Acorn" is acorn squash, of course! ;) Further adventures in trying to feed my liquid-tarian 13-month-old son. When I was making it, I had some fresh grated ginger lying around from another recipe and the smell seemed to be calling me to put it into the smoothie. Turned out to be a great combination. I didn't include cooling time for the squash. If you don't want to cool it, you could probably just add some crushed ice and blend. -- posted by mliss29

Peach Smoothie

A super easy smoothie recipe using ingredients I almost always have on hand. My kids LOVE it! I usually put the ingredients in the blender and let it blend on the 'puree' setting for several minutes so that it ends up completely smooth with no chunks. We like ours pretty thin but if you like a thicker smoothie add 1/2 cup of ice or more depending on your taste! I use Dannon Light 'N' Fit yogurt which is made with Splenda - so low sugar and no Aspartame. -- posted by AprilShowers

Power Breakfast Smoothie

A fortifying healthy smoothie that will get you going on a busy morning. I usually just throw this all together and make one big smoothie that satisfies me until lunch, but I will try and estimate portions for the other Zaarites. :)

You can use a combination of berries, I usually use strawberries but sometimes I will make a blueberry and banana shake, or strawberry and banana.

**I had to use "frozen strawberries" and "orange juice" so Recipezaar would take the nutritional info but you can use any berry or juice you like. This can be easily customized to fit your tastes. -- posted by The Tiny Chef

Fruity Smoothie

I find it very difficult nowadays to find a good, fruity smoothie recipe. Some are too smooth, some are to chunky, and some are too yogurty. I feel like Goldilocks! This is by far my favorite smoothie recipe. You can use whatever type of fruit you like; my favorite is with mango, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Great way to get kids to get calcium and vitamin C! For dieters, you can use non-fat Greek-style plain yogurt. Feel free to add healthful supplements! -- posted by Chef #795103

"emerald Ecstasy" Green Smoothie

This is the delicious Green Smoothie recipe that I make and serve at my Vita-Mix sales demonstrations. It always "wows the crowd" when something that is so bright green tastes so surprisingly delicious! It is designed for a Vita-Mix so I don't know how it would work in any other kitchen appliance.

Banana Honey Blueberry Smoothie With Added Fibre

This smoothie is full of goodness....no; greatness! It has the super high anti-oxidant value of blueberries, the sweetness of honey, added fibre of Benefibe and the classic flavour of bananas. Great for a morning snack, or anytime when you need that little something to keep you going between meals.
I came up with this particular combination of ingredients while looking through the fruit bowl and the fridge for a snack, threw it together and it turned out beautifully! I'm sure it's been thought of before...this is my own recipe thought up at the spur of the moment in my kitchen. -- posted by bananapan_cake

Green Smoothie

This smoothie is often called a "Shrek Shake" at our house because it can have some odd colors to it. Nonetheless, everyone from the grown-ups to the baby loves it! It can be made with any kind of berry, and another kind of milk could be substituted as well, but we have a dairy allergy at our house. I have substituted kale for the spinach as well, but kale's strong flavor is a bit harder to mask and it may need a bit of sweetener if you go that route. -- posted by Chef #976904

Healthy, tasty and filling. I love smoothies for breakfast and this one includes your dairy, fruit AND fiber! If you like yours a bit thinner, add 1/4 to 1/2 cup water. If you like yours frosty, simply freeze the banana and the berries. Smoothies also make a great pick me up when you hit that afternoon slump! -- posted by JanuaryBride

Debbie's Fruit Yogurt Smoothie

I make these smoothies for my sons and I about 3 times/week. They like it in the morning with their breakfast, or just as an afternoon snack. I suggest adding the flaxseed meal for additional nutrients, as it's very hard to even tell it's in there and the benefits are outstanding! Also, I freeze all of the fruit that I use for this smoothie, giving it a nice thick, almost shakelike consistency. -- posted by DoubleA's Mom

Pineapple, Banana and Coconut Smoothie

I made this smoothie, trying to copy a store-bought kind and this is so much better! The fresh pineapple gives it such a light, fresh flavour- it's just not the same with canned pineapple.
If any of this smoothie makes it to the fridge, you may like to water it down with some pineapple juice as the coconut milk thickens as it cools. -- posted by Shuzbud

Delicious Organic Green Smoothy

When my breastfed daughter was around 10 months I started noticing something wasnt quite right, so I went to my Midwife & it turns out I had extremely low iron. Normal is 12 & I was at 7. She told me to be sure to eat my leafy greens, we'll in the hot humidity of South Western Florida the cooler your food is the better! This is so good, my daughter & I drink one every other day now & my iron level is up to a 13 after just one month!!! I can just imagine what its done for her!

I have tried many variations to switch it up a little, adding yogurt makes for a smoother texture (and the active cultures never hurt) Apple Juice can be substituted if you dont have OJ in the house. Mango (i used frozen to avoid the prep) Use your imagination -- posted by mrs.cubana

Here is a refreshing drink that your toddler will love. Not to mention, it's packed with nutrients. In minutes you will have created a tasty treat that is filled with Vitamin A to promote digestion and healthy eyes. The banana also provides plenty of potassium to maintain proper electrolyte balance in your body and help lower your risk of high blood pressure. Lastly, the strawberries are an excellent source of Vitamin C, which helps eliminate free radicals from the body.

Not to mention its YUMMY, my 15 month old loves it. I only give 4 oz servings. -- posted by Kamden & Alyssas Mommy
