			<description>Living abroad has it's ups and downs. Not being able to find ingredients for at-home favorites is a definite down. I adapted several recipes and made several pies, and found that in China, with the ingredients available, this recipe makes a Deeeelicious-No-Roll-Crusted-Humdinger of a pumpkin pie.


You can find most of the ingredients in China. Pumpkin is Nan2guo3, and those are usually available in the markets, but don't be afraid to experiment with other similar squashes. The sweetened and condensed milk can usually be found in a bakery or supermarket. They dip their Chinese rolls in it as a dessert after dinner often. It is made by Nestle &amp;amp;#40560;&amp;amp;#21787;&amp;amp;#28860;&amp;amp;#22902;ying1ma4lian4nai3 or (as they have no equivalent to what we would call cream, if u ask for cream 99% of the time they show you to this, &amp;amp;#22902;&amp;amp;#27833; nai3you3&amp;amp;#12290; The spices are what is tricky. See if you can have people mail u the tiny McCormick packets or try your fare at a big supermarket in a capital city. 			<description>I took this to work this week, and got rave reviews on it. People loved the fact that they were being served out of a pumpkin. Even though the recipe calls for a sugar pumpkin, I actually made a triple batch and filled a jack-o-lantern pumpkin for work because I needed something that would serve a lot of people. However, jack-o-lantern pumpkins are not very good for eating themselves so everybody just ate the filling, whereas you should actually scoop out part of the flesh of the sugar pumpkin with the stuffing.

I originally got this recipe off of here, but went I started to review it, with my list of modifications, I realized that it had changed so much that it was a completely different recipe so I am posting my own version.

And, they are somewhat healthier because they contain some whole wheat flour (and a vegetable!).  The dough is very easy to handle and rises up beautifully.  These would also be good with a cream cheese icing.
Dough requires a total of at least 2 1/2 hour rising time (if you use liquid milk instead of dry, you may require slightly longer rising time).  You can make the dough the day before. Just let them rise for about 30 minutes, wrap them up, and refrigerate overnight. 			<description>This pie is delicious, and no one will EVER miss the eggs.  You can use this filling with your favorite home made pie crust, or store bought. I made this for Thanksgiving 2009 using this crust:  Recipe #404587  Because I didn't have clove, I used 1/2 tsp cinnamon PLUS from Pampered Chef, which has a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove.
