I'm assuming she got it from the Jones Sausage package. I think you could use any mildly-seasoned ground sausage for this recipe. Great salad for the holidays.  Very easy but impressive. Dried cranberries can be substituted for the dried cherries. Also good with glazed or spiced pecans. Pears would also be good in place of apples. 			<description>This is a Midwestern classic apparently-- a school chum from Iowa told me about this recipe that's popular around fall and early winter, from having leftover cans of pumpkin from stocking up on sale but not wanting to make any more pumpkin pies-- they're popular for high teas, luncheon spreads, Superbowl parties, Thanksgiving and Christmas, or sitting on your can watching The Golden Girls. :D Since I didn't want to use actual marshmallow Fluff...this is my fluffy adaptation of this recipe that came out HEAVENLY. I could eat a drum of this stuff and not get bored of it! One 15 or 16 oz can of pumpkin works, or you can measure out 2 cups from a 28-oz can. 			<description>I grew up with Turkey and Dressing, stuffing was just foreign to me, until I became an adult, and while I can appreciate stuffing, nothing comes close to the dressing the women in my family made every Thanksgiving.  If made properly, you'll find this somewhat lighter than most dressing recipes. I grew up in the south, and recently moved to California.  Thanksgiving foods here are great, but they don't usually bear a strong resemblance to the holiday food I'm used to.   The instructions may sound a little odd, but please, just follow them, and you'll have a really delicious dressing, and enough for a crowd. And, they are somewhat healthier because they contain some whole wheat flour (and a vegetable!).  The dough is very easy to handle and rises up beautifully.  These would also be good with a cream cheese icing.
Dough requires a total of at least 2 1/2 hour rising time (if you use liquid milk instead of dry, you may require slightly longer rising time).  You can make the dough the day before. Just let them rise for about 30 minutes, wrap them up, and refrigerate overnight. This is simply a spectacular cake - moist and light with spiced pumpkin flavour and sweet bites of coconut and pineapple.

In addition, it is a snap to make. It requires two nine-inch cake pans to make the layers, but the cake itself can be mixed together with a rubber spatula and bowl. If all the cake ingredients are pre-measured and the cake pans prepared, this can be a fun kitchen project to do with children, especially since it can be made ahead and frozen.

Sweet potatoes are often made even more sweet using ingredients like maple syrup, brown sugar, molasses, and even marshmallows. We like that apartmentcooker goes definitively in the other direction by adding bacon, parmesan, onion, garlic and a cr&amp;egrave;me fra&amp;icirc;che bechamel, while still paying homage to more traditional recipes (she adds a tablespoon of brown sugar to the bechamel, with delightful results). Thinly sliced sweet potatoes are layered in the baking dish (we used one dish big enough for two rather than individual ones) with bechamel, crisped bacon, and raw onions and garlic, which infuse the gratin with their fragrance. A sprinkling of parmesan on top helps with browning, but if you want a little more color, pop the gratin under the broiler for a few minutes at the end. Not really a blondie by my standards, but it passes off as an interesting bar-type dessert. PLEASE NOTE: Because most people are not really used to tasting molasses, it may take a few bites to fall in love with this recipe. I did not like it at all when I first tried it. But, after giving it a second bite, I found I can't get enough of it. This seemed to happen with EVERYONE who tried it. So, please, before giving an unhappy review, try it again. If you find that the molasses is just too much to handle, try cutting the topping ingredients in half. It really does make a lot of topping as it is. I made this for Thanksgiving 2009 using this crust:  Recipe #404587  Because I didn't have clove, I used 1/2 tsp cinnamon PLUS from Pampered Chef, which has a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. 			<description>I included them on my Christmas cookie platters this year, and everyone made a point of telling me how good they were.  I found the recipe on the web.  The raisins were my idea.  Dried cranberries would be as good, if not much, much better.  Or leave them out completely.  Both light and dark brown sugar work beautifully, although I think I like the dark brown sugar version just a tiny tad more. I used good-quality white chocolate chips mixed with about 1/2 teaspoon of shortening for the drizzle.  And if you can, use freshly ground nutmeg.  Also, you can use up to 3/4 cup raisins or dried cranberries.  Any way you try it, I think you'll love them.
