Strawberry Kiwi Tart/Tartlets

This is a really nice dessert that is easy to make. I have made it like a pie but my favorite wasy is to make it in tart shells so each person can have there own. I have made this for several parties and it is always a hit. The basis of the recipe came from a Pillsbury pamplet. -- posted by Tmisen

Strawberry Tart or Pie

I must have made this pie 50 times; it's what I bring for dessert when we are invited out during the summer. It isn't too sweet, and the Grand Marnier adds a heavenly perfume. The trickiest part of the recipe is the almond pastry. It is fragile to work with, but it firms up once cooked.
Chocostrawnutty Hobo Pie

Chocolate, hazelnut and strawberry flavors combine to become an awesome campfire dessert and will be loved by both kids AND adults - it tastes so gourmet you'll forget you're camping! I originally had the filling in a crepe but found that it translates extremely well to the pie iron.

Nutella is an Italian chocolate hazelnut spread usually found in the peanut butter/jelly aisle. The strawberry jam can be substituted with sliced fresh strawberries, or bananas would work nicely as well. The amounts listed below might be a little off, I generally put a generous smear of each ingredient (except butter) on each slice of bread.

If you are cooking this without a pie iron, then fry it on the stove, like a grilled cheese. If you have the opportunity, microwave the Nutella for 10 seconds to make it easier to spread. -- posted by stardust_331

Caltech Strawberry Pie

I tried something like this at a Caltech dinner last year, and I loved it so much that I had to reverse-engineer it. I then improved upon it so it's exactly how I like it. It's a lot of time and effort, but I think it's worth it. (Note that all ingredients can be modified to taste.
Tartes Aux Fraises (Strawberry Tarts - France)

This recipe from *French Bistro and Cafe Cooking* by Pierre-Yves Chupin has a stunning presentation & would be perfect as an elegant dinner party finale, but is also a surprisingly easy make-ahead fix. Per the intro: "Strawberry tart is a classic dessert & a perennial favorite at Chez Serge in Saint-Owen, France. This version is enriched w/an almond cream filling, giving it a deliciously smooth texture & delicate flavor." This dessert looks amazing & for me would not require such excess, but a rose champange was suggested as ideal to pair w/it. *Enjoy* ! -- posted by twissis

Yadda May's Strawberry Pie

The strawberry filling was oh-so-good. Yadda May says, "The ladies at our quilting circle just throw a fit over this!" This is from The Treasury of White Trash Cooking. I wasn't wild about the plain cream cheese part, but then again, I didn't follow directions and add the milk. Who knows? I think maybe that layer could use a little sugar. I counted baking the crust as the cooking time. I use the rolled pie crusts in a box in the refrigerated section of the grocery store. -- posted by mliss29

Humble Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble Pie

Found in Woman's Day magazine March 2008. I am waiting for some great fresh rhubarb to hit our farmer's market and then this recipe will be made! I like the idea that it is a pie and not just a basic crumble - so it should hold up better when serving. -- posted by HokiesLady

Spring Strawberry Pie

I have never had a strawberry pie with a nut topping before and this was delicious. The addition of balsamic vinegar really helps sweeten the berries. This makes a *lot* of crust mixture. Times do not include 4 hours of chilling the pie or letting the nut topping cool.
Lisser Sue's Strawberry Pie (Fruit Juice Sweetened)

I've been thinking about this pie for a long time and when I saw 4 pound packages of strawberries for $4.99 at the store I knew today was the day! This is inspired by Recipe #262164 and Recipe #280726. You can also make the strawberry layer with 12 ounces of white grape juice concentrate and add food color. It's a little sweeter that way. I used 3 drops of the neon pink and 3 drops of red and got a really nice color. -- posted by mliss29

Strawberry Sablee Tart

Strawberry sablee tart is a Gordon Ramsay classic that has the crumbliest pastry ever, plus a few of his own modern touches. Pate Sable is made of more sugar & eggs than Pate Brisee and it has no water. He says "Instead of ceramic or metal baking beans, use uncooked rice. It is lighter, so it holds the pastry down without squashing it." There is a chilling time of 1 hour and cooling of 15 minutes.
Frozen Berry Meringue, Adapted for Diabetic Diet

I found this recipe in Fare for Friends, a cookbook published in 1983 to raise money for Interim Place, a hostel for abused women and their children.
Of necessity, I have made changes to accommodate a diabetic diet, but will give the original ingredients in parentheses. To further cut down on carbs and calories I usually just line a square serving dish with graham crackers (mine takes nine 2-1/2 inch squares) and eliminate the crust base, but if you don't have restrictions, by all means make the graham/nut base. The original recipe calls for strawberries, but I think any soft berry or fruit would work. -- posted by Sweet Baboo

I would also say that I do not use the 450 degree setting and only just use 350 degrees for 60 to 70 minutes but this is my personal preference.

Lemon Ripple Ice Cream Pie

I found this recipe years ago in a Bon Appetit special edition. This is an incredible dessert and I get rave reviews everytime I make it. The prep time is long, but the different components can be done at separate times, and it is well worth the time it takes. Be sure you use fresh lemon juice, not the bottled stuff. It REALLY does make a difference. -- posted by Glassylady

I created this pie in my Advanced Food Class in college...It is light, delicious, and very simple to make! You can use whatever sliced fruit you like as a topping. During the holidays I use kiwi and strawberry (red and green!) and shape the kiwi into a christmas tree in the middle and surround the rest of the pie with sliced strawberries! :) Enjoy! -- posted by Meredith3127

Summer Memories: Jumbleberry Crumble With Shortbread Topping

This was a quick throw it together Sunday Lunch pudding idea - raid the freezer for all the nearly used bags of frozen summer fruits, such as cherries, raspberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants, bilberries (blueberries), blackberries and strawberries. Fling them all into an ovenproof gratin dish; whizz up a shortbread crumble topping - and Bob's your uncle and Fanny's your aunt, as we say down our way!!!! We loved it, the combination of fruits was wonderful - and it is a great idea for using up whatever fruits you have lurking in your freezer. I am sure that fresh fruit would also be suitable. We like our fruits to be on the tart side - so pleased add sugar to taste! Serve the crumble with hot custard, cold custard, cream, ice cream, crème fraiche or whatever you fancy! -- posted by French Tart

Strawberry-Rhubarb Deep-Dish Pie

Yaay! It's strawberry season right now here in California, time to make my favorite pie. Want to post this for safekeeping here as I just had a scare and couldn't find my cookbook - this is not a recipe I want to lose! Got it from Good Housekeeping Book of Desserts, which is one of the best cookbooks on sweets that I have ever found! I have been making this pie for years now, and it's one of the few things that my incredibly over-picky kids will eat. Does take a bit of time and effort, between making the crust and sweetening/juicing up the berries, then baking and letting it cool for a bit. You can vary the top crust, I like the "criss-cross" lattice look for this one with the juicy red berries oozing on top. GREAT tasting on its own, but, if you add fresh whip cream and/or ice cream on top when it's still just a little warm, it is fantastic! -- posted by SpchTeachCooks

Tourteau Fromage a la Compote de Fraises et Oranges. This dessert is from the Vendee and Poitou regions in France.
Glazed Fresh Berry Pie

This is an absolutely scrumptious pie, based on one originally published in The Vancouver Sun. With its fresh summer berries piled high in a baked pie shell and a glaze poured over top, it makes a nice change from traditional pies, where the fruit is cooked. It makes a wonderful summer dessert with a dollop of sweetened whipped cream on top. (I am from Canada, but for you Americans, it would make a wonderful 4th of July dessert (strawberries, blueberries AND whipped cream) (smiles). The original recipe in The Sun called for fresh raspberries (2 cups for the glaze and 6 cups for the filling), and it's wonderful with that too, but raspberry season is very short, and this strawberry/blueberry filling is wonderful too. I have yet to try it with blackberries, but might do that this summer too .... -- posted by JacquelynLee
