Swirlberry Ice Cream

A recipe from Rachael Ray. It's delicious. I made it but I think I didn't wait long enough before adding the fruit jam. So I didn't get a swirl. But it's still yummy :) -- posted by Boomette

Meyer Lemon Panna Cotta With Strawberries

This is a light custard-like dessert, perfect for Summer fare. Meyer lemons are a cross between a lemon and a mandarin orange. Introduced to the United States from China in 1908 by Frank Meyer, they are less acidic and sweeter than regular lemons. -- posted by Maureen in MA

Patriotic Twinkie Pie

From the Twinkies cookbook, Ruth Royal, Cody, WY writes - "While preparing a recipe for a Fourth of July party, I realized I was missing a few key ingredients. It was too late to go to the store, so I began looking for substitutes and used some of the Twinkies I had on hand. Twinkies gave the dessert a distinctive taste, and I’ve never gone back to the old recipe!" Cook time is chill time and is approximate. -- posted by lazyme

The Prime Rib's Strawberries Romanoff

This version of the dish is from a DC restaurant called The Prime Rib and it was found in "Dining Out & Dining In", a cookbook published in 1981.
Glazed Fresh Berry Pie

This is an absolutely scrumptious pie, based on one originally published in The Vancouver Sun. With its fresh summer berries piled high in a baked pie shell and a glaze poured over top, it makes a nice change from traditional pies, where the fruit is cooked. It makes a wonderful summer dessert with a dollop of sweetened whipped cream on top. (I am from Canada, but for you Americans, it would make a wonderful 4th of July dessert (strawberries, blueberries AND whipped cream) (smiles). The original recipe in The Sun called for fresh raspberries (2 cups for the glaze and 6 cups for the filling), and it's wonderful with that too, but raspberry season is very short, and this strawberry/blueberry filling is wonderful too. I have yet to try it with blackberries, but might do that this summer too .... -- posted by JacquelynLee

Sugar-Free Strawberry "shortcake" Dessert

This is sooooo easy and light - and YUMMY!! For the 4th, I added the layers of blueberries and blue Jello, but I usually just use strawberries.
When I got this recipe, it called for regular cakes and Jello, but because there are some diabetics in my family, I tried using the sugar-free angel food cakes (Walmart) and Jello - no one can tell the difference. Everyone loves it and because it is so easy to do, it is one of my all-time favorites! The recipe as follows is for a 9 X 13 pan. -- posted by Eileen G.

Old-Fashioned English Summer Berry Jelly and Ice Cream!

Little wibbly-wobbly ruby red jellies with mixed summer berries, so cooling and great with ice cream. There is nothing I love more than taking a basket to the end of my garden to pick an assortment of ripe summer berries when they are in season! The sense of satisfaction at picking your own fruit is wonderful. Although I have called these little jellies “English” summer berry jellies, I DO make these in France of course - it's just that the berries remind me of my grandparent's gardens and picking the fruit when I was little…………...plus, the combination of berries is the same as a traditional English Summer Pudding recipe! I make these in little vintage metal moulds, they look so pretty served this way; you can of course make this recipe in a large mould, but DO allow extra time for the jelly to set. -- posted by French Tart

Strawberry Lime Granita

A granita is similar to a sorbet since it is a mixture of fruit puree and simple syrup that is frozen to develop ice crystals which are broken up with a fork. You can process the mixture in an ice cream maker for a smoother texture and you'll have a sorbet. The simple syrup can be made up to a week in advance, but must be made the night before. -- posted by Ice Cool Kitty

The Original Bisquick® Strawberry Shortcakes

The original Old Fashioned Shortcake recipe appeared on the first Bisquick® box in 1931. It's said that an advertising slogan promised – “Here’s the Kind of Strawberry Shortcake Your Husband Will Rave About.” Shortcakes are the sweet cousin of the dinner bisquit, and these easy-to-prepare treats have stood the test of time in my family. It started with my mom who made her Bisquick® strawberry shortcakes with her garden grown strawberries and REAL homemade whipping cream. Some thirty years later my sistes and I are still baking up these sweet treats. -- posted by Feast Your Eyes!

Bergamot Fresh Fruit Salad With Scented Pelargonium Leaves

This fruit salad is amazing, and all the more for the addition of bergamot leaves and flowers! The fragrant leaves of this versatile herb delicately flavour the syrup whilst the gorgeous shaggy red flowers and scented pelargonium leaves decorate it for the final finishing flourish! If you are a lover of Earl Gray tea, you will instantly recognise the flavour of this herb, as it is used to flavour this famous and popular tea blend.
NOTE: Bergamot, often referred to as bee balm, became distinguished as "Oswego Tea" when a Quaker botanist, John Bartram, sampled a tea made from the leaves. A Bergamot lemon is a small yellow sour citrus fruit similar to an orange, mostly cultivated in Calabria in Italy. The rind contains an essential oil used in perfumery (the basis for eau-de-cologne), confectionary and Earl Grey tea. The zest is also used in pâtisserie. NB: Prep time includes cooling time. -- posted by French Tart

The Realtor's Strawberry Ice Cream

This is what real strawberry ice cream should taste like. It's fresh and all natural. I like knowing exactly what's in the stuff we're eating, don't you? It'll turn out just a light shade of pink so if you want it pinker, add a few drops of food coloring. Splenda lovers- this will NOT turn out the same using splenda. It won't have the same rich, creamy consistency. I don't know why but it won't. Cooking time is freezing time. -- posted by Realtor by day, Chef by night

Grilled Pound Cake Sundaes

Grilled pound cake with pineapple, fruit, and ice cream. A good no bake recipe for hot weather. If fresh pineapple is not available use canned pineapple slices, drained, 2 per serving. Substitute any fresh fruits in season. For a no-grill option, broil pound cake and pineapple separately on a rack set 6” from heat source until lightly browned, turning once, 1 or 2 minutes per side. Instead of cooking spray, use additional melted butter to coat pound cake slices. The original recipe from Woman's World magazine called for serving with caramel topping and dulce de leche ice cream. I skipped the caramel topping and served it with French vanilla ice cream. -- posted by foodtvfan

A Mere Trifle! Strawberries and Clotted Cream Trifle

Luscious fresh strawberries nestle amongst light sponge cake sandwiched with strawberry jam, which are then covered with creamy custard and topped with clotted cream. Simple! This trifle may be simple but it is the star on any tea-time or dessert table and if you cannot obtain clotted cream, use whipping cream, heavy cream or double cream instead. Madeira is used in place of sherry in this trifle, which gives a mellow flavour to the trifle. This is a recipe that my mum sent to me, from a cutting in a British magazine promoting Devon and Cornwall in the West Country - home of the Cream Tea! If you wish to serve this to children or non-drinkers, substitute the Madeira with fruit juice of your choice. In the summer scatter some pink rose petals over the top for the ultimate and romantic finish! (Prep time includes the chilling and soaking time.) -- posted by French Tart
