			<description>Ukrainian-style borscht - my mother-in-law's recipe. I have a jar of Sour Salt I use instead of the salt and vinegar in the recipe. I had only ever tried cold beets once or twice (ew!) before being introduced to borscht. I remember I was reluctant to try the weird red soup. What a wonderful surprise when it hit my taste buds! Now I crave it regularly. 			<title>Rice Porridge (Congee) With Century Egg and Pork (Or Chicken)</title>

			<description>I grew up eating a Filipino version of Congee called &amp;quot;Arroz Caldo&amp;quot;. My grandmother would have lots of dark chicken meat in it and huge chunks of ginger that I would end up biting into (not fun when you're 7 years old). Since then my own kids have developed a love for the traditional Chinese-style congee (also called rice soup) they serve in restaurants, especially during cold Autumn and Winter days. Some people may be uneasy about using the 'century duck egg' (or 'thousand year old egg' is really just as egg that is preserved in salt, ash and lime) but don't judge it in it's unpeeled, chopped up state - added to the congee, it really adds a yummy complexity to this dish, even my 2yo daughter loves it. This recipe is for you if you want a warm, hearty, simple and economical meal. Enjoy! 			<title>Creamy Sherry and Cheese Sauce</title>

			<description>Delicious with everything but usually we eat it stirred through pasta as a pasta sauce.  Can also be drizzled over chicken or pork. It is really creamy and thick and the addition of the chopped onion, mushroom and pancetta makes it quite substantial and filling.
The amount of sherry is an estimation as we never really measure it out but it is approx 50g.  You can add more or less as you like.

The cooking time is really quick but spend a little extra time on preparation to make sure the onion and mushrooms are really really finely chopped and sliced.

			<description>This sticky, spicy chicken curry is deliciously sweet and packs just the right amount of heat. It is to be scooped up with warm, chewy naan, then licked off of fingers.Your first step is to hunt down some curry leaves. Their flavour is irreplaceable in this dish - a bit nutty, warm, and citrusy. Used a lot in South Indian cooking, they have nothing to do with curry powder which is a blend of spices.Start by browning the chicken in a heavy skillet - make sure the oil is good and hot and the chicken has been patted dry before you put it in the pan. Dont flip it until it releases easily - if it is sticking, leave it - it will tear if you try and turn it before it is ready. Next, cook the onions gently over low heat for about 10 minutes to coax out the sweetness. Then add the spices to the pan to saute before the liquid is added. These three steps have a big flavour impact.
As far as curries go, the ingredient list is very short. Which makes it a great curry for beginners, if you can track down some curry leaves at an Indian grocer. 			<description>This is a traditional-style stew with a couple of changes.  Great use for moose roast, as the meat gets really tender.  Guinness adds a lot of flavor, but can be substituted with any good dark beer or stout.  Moose can be substituted with beef or lamb for a more traditional Irish stew.  Use any root vegetables that look good, though the parsnip imparts a really unique flavor so if you can find one, I highly recommend it.  Recipe can easily be doubled to feed more people.  Note on the seasoning:  Use whatever you like that tastes good if you don't have all the ingredients listed below.  The beef base and beer provide enough flavor alone.  Great Sunday dinner recipe as it slow cooks through the day and requires little prep. Made this a couple of days ago. I was really afraid one box of fettuccine wasn't going to be enough, but it turns out perfectly. I used my mandoline thing to julienne the zucchini. Everybody in my meat-loving family enjoyed this hearty, healthy vegetarian dish. Very filling. I also used a big (like 30 oz?) can of diced tomatoes, drained instead of fussing with fresh ones. I also used the Parmesan cheese out of the container, but it would be awesome with fresh! As always, you can adjust the garlic, cheese, and red pepper flakes to your tastes. I casually sprinkled the thick-cut Hemplers bacon with cayenne before frying to a nearly blackened crisp. Once the caramel had reached its perfect molten temperature I stirred in a handful of the bacon then reserved the rest to get sprinkled on top. The caramel set beautifully. Some were cut and served as is while a select few were covered in tempered dark chocolate. All of them were devoured.

 The rib eyes should be room temperature so bring meat out of the refrigerator 1 hour before searing. Use tongs so not to puncture the meat.
This serves 12 normal adults. 1/4 pound per adult. BUT if like my Husband he'll eat the whole steak himself. I just don't know how he does it!

I  know this sounds weird, but I decided to try combining these into a snack bar. These are packed with good stuff, tasty, and very filling. They will give you energy to carry on for quite a while. 			<description>I just made this recipe, and it is soooo good! Beautiful, jewel-toned strawberry jam with a touch of lemon--I found the recipe in the Ball powdered pectin box. My chef husband gave me a bar zester years ago, and I use it to get a fine, delicate lemon  peel with no pith. If you don't have a zester, prepare the peel to your preference, but be sure to remove as much of the pith as possible.

For a richer stock, caramelize you onions and hocks until dark brown. You can use Recipe #356677 . 
NOTE: The cooking time doesn't include the optional (but recommended to reduce fat content) overnight refrigeration time.
