Broiled Flank Steak

Adapted from a very old issue of Food & Wine magazine. I haven't made this one in ages - but I recall that it was very good and really not as difficult as it may appear. Use a good, strong, dry red wine in this. I like to use Shiraz, but any hearty drinkable red will do fine. This marinates in a tomato and wine mixture, making it very tender. NOTE: Try to plan the timing so that the marinade has started cooking a few minutes before you pop the meat into the oven, so that they finish cooking at roughly the same time. -- posted by HeatherFeather

I found this delicious recipe in the 'Dinner Tonight!' column in the Chicago Tribune. You can marinate this for as little as 30 minutes but 2-3 hours is best. I've included the 30 minute marinading time in the prep time.
Skirt Steak Sandwich With Blue Gouda

Flavorful skirt steak is a great way to enjoy beef, especially when paired with creamy and piquant blue gouda cheese. Succulent grilled red & yellow peppers combine with tangy whole grain mustard and sweet red onion to make this sandwich an impressive meal. Serve with a simple crisp romaine salad topped with a light vinagrette dressing. I first tried this at the Whole Foods Market & then I found the recipe on their web site. The marinating time is not included in the cooking time, it is from 2-24 hours. -- posted by Manami

Chili and Garlic-Rubbed Steaks

This recipe is for 2 steaks or 3 very small steaks, but can easily be doubled. You can use any cut of steak desired--we like strip loin for this. Plan ahead, the steaks need to marinate for 24 hours or up to 2 days. Also please remember to remove the steaks from the fridge and bring to almost room temperature before grilling. This will relax the meat fibers and create a more juicy tender steak. -- posted by KITTENCAL

Marinated Steak With Carrots and Herbs in Lettuce

I love hoisin sauce! If it came in a beverage form, I'd probably drink it! This is easy and you don't even have to go outside or start up the BBQ. The flavor in this broiled beauty is awesome. And it comes with it's own salad! You can place the cooked steak slices on a salad, and have it that way. You can also make it into a sandwich. Lots of ideas. Note: Boston lettuce is known for it's curley and very tender leaves. There are a few others, so look for them. They are delicious. -- posted by FLUFFSTER

Oriental Steak Skewers (Or Appetizer Bites)

Cubes of sirloin steak are marinated in a flavorful oriental sauce and broiled or grilled until done. You can skewer the meat for a meal, or cook seperately and serve with toothpicks for an appetizer. Prep time includes 2 hours of marinade time, you may want to do longer. Number of serving depends on how you're serving the steaks, this makes approx. six meals or 12 appetizers.
Southwestern Tri-Tip Steaks

Loaded with cilantro and lime, this tri-tip steak is marinated in beer, wine and spices. The recipe as it stands produces a pretty mild result. Choose a dark beer for a richer flavor and, to increase the heat level, add more red pepper flakes or toss in a chopped up jalapeno pepper. (The seeds and membranes hold the most heat in a pepper, so you can further adjust heat levels that way.) -- posted by Sandi (From CA)

London Broil ( Broiled Flank Steak)

I was browsing on this site for a Flank Steak recipe when I remembered this tried and trusted recipe from an old diet book "The New Canadian High Energy Diet" by Sandra Cohen-Rose and Dr Colin Penfield Rose.
An easy marinade that does not have to be prepared as far ahead as some, which is good for those like me who are not always so organised!
I often double the marinade quantity as it's a little "skimpy". Preparation time does not include marinating.
Make extra to use in sandwiches. -- posted by JRH
