Banana Faux-lada

I came up with this when I wanted to use up a couple of ripe bananas and I was in the mood for a Colada type drink. I didn't want to use cream of coconut or coconut milk, so this is the result. It still has the same sort of taste, but is much lighter. Since I am not a big fan of heavy creamy drinks, I actually like this better! -- posted by Vino Girl

Healthy Coconut Parve Soy-Free "Milk"-Shake

I invented this to have something like a creamy milk shake for my little son who is lactose-intolerant. And our family do not use soy anymore (as we were informed that it is NOT healthy, see "soy alert" by www.westonaprice.org). Btw. it freezes well - we eat it as a parve dessert. -- posted by Liora

Banana-Coconut " Cream Pie" Smoothie

This is adapted from Smoothies & Summer Drinks. Freezing the bananas ahead of time makes for a thicker smoothie. To freeze the bananas I usually peel, slice, and then place them in an airtight container and then freeze. This can be made in a blender or in a large pitcher and puree using an immersion blender. -- posted by cookiedog

Chef Joey's Young Coconut Smoothie

I love the milk and flesh from young coconuts and its much sweeter then old coconuts. I buy mine in our local Asian market.

This drink is delicious anytime, but I prefer it in the morning as a pick me up. The raw cacao nibs in this drink give it a nice kick without the crash other chocolate drinks give you. You can use other types of berries besides Strawberries in this recipe. And, you could also substitute all or some of the non-dairy milk with pineapple or apricot juice to give it a tropical kick. -- posted by Chef Joey Z.

Banana Colada (Non-Dairy Mocktail)

A luscious-looking drink for all you coconut lovers out there (like me!) who want something smooth and creamy, but don't want or can't have alcohol or dairy. I found this over at the World's Healthiest Foods site while browsing their recipe collection. This variation on the more traditional pina colada recipe is a good cure any tropical cravings you might have! You'll want to make sure to use ripe bananas for this recipe, as it will provide more flavor and sweetness that way. Also, make sure to use only enough liquid to keep the blender going. NOTE: Cook time is freezing time for the bananas. If you're like me and usually have leftover ripe bananas already in the freezer waiting to be used, this recipe is a snap to put together. -- posted by Lynne the Pirate Queen

Coconut Lime Smoothie

I was just wanting to try to make something new and this is what I threw together. You can't taste the spinach AT ALL. Tastes very limey - add coconut milk if you have it to balance it out if you want. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------What's great about this pairing is that the ascorbic acid, the vitamin C, in the limes helps the body absorb the iron found in the spinach. Without vitamin C mixed with the spinach, the human body only takes 20% of the available iron in the spinach! Drink up! -- posted by ThatSouthernBelle

Pineapple, Banana and Coconut Smoothie

I made this smoothie, trying to copy a store-bought kind and this is so much better! The fresh pineapple gives it such a light, fresh flavour- it's just not the same with canned pineapple.
If any of this smoothie makes it to the fridge, you may like to water it down with some pineapple juice as the coconut milk thickens as it cools. -- posted by Shuzbud
