Rosmairi Oven Scones

This recipe is from the 'Highland Fling' cookbook. My grandmother ordered 4 cookbooks from Scotland for herself, my mother & my aunts. It makes a delicious, fluffy scone & we've had tons of requests for the recipe over the years. I have given the exact steps as written, but added our modifications. This makes a sweet scone--perfect for double Devonshire cream & some jam. -- posted by KristinB

Very Tasty Cheesy Cheddar and Oat Scones

Great served fresh from the oven - split open and douse dangerously with butter.....naughty but very, VERY nice!! These also keep very well in an airtight tin or container and can be toasted next day or gently warmed through in a low oven. Ideal for freezing - will keep in freezer bags for up to 2 months. Great picnic fare - split them open and spread with garlic & chive soft cream cheese, (Boursin or Philadelphia type) or make cheese & ham scone sandwiches or even cucumber scone sandwiches!! The oats give them a great texture - I use fairly coarse porridge oats. This recipe is easily doubled for larger crowds or greedy people!!! -- posted by French Tart

Wallace and Gromit Cheese Scones for Serious Cheese Lovers!

"We need more cheese Gromit!" Very serious cheesy scones which use way more cheese than normal for a scone mix; they will not rise quite as high as plain scones - but as you can see from the photo, they get there! Try and use a good quality mature Cheddar or any local type of strong cheese that is available. They can be made in about 20 minutes, if you have all the ingredients to hand and the oven has been pre-heated. Great for afternoon tea, picnics, buffets & packed lunches. You can also add chopped chives & herbs for a change. -- posted by French Tart

Cheese-Onion Bannocks

Bannocks are Scottish oatcakes, similar to scones.
(Relatively) Healthy Oatmeal Scones

After finding an old scone recipe in the crevices of my kitchen, I experimented a little and it turned into a low fat--but still delicious!--treat, great for breakfast, snacks, or afternoon tea.

These are best warm, split in half and spread with jam, preserves, butter, and/or clotted cream. Also great with a hot cup of tea. =) -- posted by slicedpeaches

These are a traditional Scottish recipe. Like a cross between a pancake and a scone. They are made with ingredients that would be staples in the home -- posted by **Jubes**

Traditional English Tea Time Scones With Jam and Cream

Eat these hot, split & spread with fresh churned butter, fresh cream and homemade jam, preferably strawberry........not forgetting to lick your fingers afterwards - discreetly! These always made an appearance on my Mum and Grandmother's Afternoon Tea Table....it's simply expected my dear! You can also add dried fruit to these to make traditional fruit scones, such as sultanas, currants and raisins; I have added that option in the recipe. The traditional English Cream Tea is very popular in the South West of England, especially in Devon and Cornwall - there you will be offered a pot of tea with fluffy warm scones, butter, cream and strawberry jam. In Devon, you will be served double Devon cream and in Cornwall, you will be offered clotted cream – that’s the main difference. -- posted by French Tart
