The Ospidillo Cafe Oyster Po' Boy Sandwich

I had my first Oyster Po' Boy at a little tavern on Dauphin Island, Alabama, and I swore that I would not rest until I could make a sandwich which could equal that one. And, now, at long last, I can rest. There's nothing fancy or difficult about this sandwich and it's a huge reward to sit down and eat one along with some good home-made french fries and an ice cold beer. If you're looking for something different, but not too weird, this might just be what you had in mind. Great flavor and a real crowd pleaser on Super Bowl Sunday. -- posted by Bone Man

Buffalo Sauce Burgers Stuffed With Blue Cheese

Buffalo sauce, a mixture of melted butter and hot sauce, is a big claim to food fame for Buffalo, New York. It is normally served on fried chicken wings (Buffalo wings), but this burger is a great variation of the theme. The recipe is adapted from one published in my local newspaper and credited to David Joachim, author of The Tailgater's Cookbook. It was included in a feature on tailgating, and the idea was to get these ready to grill at home, then grill them at your tailgating affair. The original recipe called for either ground buffalo or ground beef. Since ground buffalo is not available where I live, I used ground beef. I forgot to notice how long prep took, so the time given is a guess. I served these on PaulaG's Recipe #139827--they are excellent and I highly recommend them. -- posted by GaylaJ

This may be made using sliced turkey or chicken in place of roast beef, I prefer the beef better --- leftover roast beef, thinly sliced steak or deli roast beef will work for this, if you don't have a toaster oven to toast the sliced buns you can just toast them under the broiler firstly. -- posted by KITTENCAL

A family favorite, especially on Super Bowl game day! The amounts listed are only a guideline, you can adjust all ingredient amounts to taste. Purchase the sliced sandwich bread for this, use white or whole wheat. If you prefer lots on the mayo mixture on your sandwich then increase the mayo to 3/4 cup and the Dijon to 1-1/2 tablespoons.
Italian Sausage Meatloaf Sandwich

This simple recipe was devised from a rare flash of inspiration and ingredients I had on hand. I started out making a regular pasta dinner & got sidetracked after I had made the bread and thawed the meats. I used premade basil pesto & jarred onion-garlic marinara sauce to speed this dinner along. This could be easily changed to reflect what you have to use up. *Definitely a recipe for skinny, heart healthy folks! The rest of us can only lick our chops. -- posted by SusieQusie

Tailgater Club Sandwich

Use a good quality ranch dressing for this, it will really improve the taste of the sandwich. All ingredient amounts can be adjusted to suit taste. I like to warm the sandwiches slightly in the microwave just before serving to soften the bread and melt cheese. You can replace the ranch with any similar dressing/spread, Thousand Island dressing will work great with this see recipe#188009 or see recipe#81986 -- posted by KITTENCAL

Turkey Sandwich Supreme (Serves Six)

After picking up a loaf of King's Hawaiian bread on a whim, I went searching for a sandwich recipe to use it in for Super Bowl eats. I found this one on the King's Hawaiian site and decided to try it since it is simple, and I had everything already on hand except for the dressing. I used Miller's Recipe #16234, and the bacon flavor added a nice touch. I enjoy sandwiches of this type that serve several people, and I like that this one includes spinach. I think a clove or two of minced garlic would be a nice addition to the spinach mixture, but it does seem like I may just have a problem cooking without involving garlic. :) -- posted by GaylaJ

Kittencal's Fried Bologna Sandwich

Steelers Game Day Sausage

This recipe appeared in the January 29, 2006, Post-Gazette Food Section - "Pittsburgh Super Bowl Recipes" - and ran in the Seattle papers. What Pittsburgh Eats is Sausage - stacked with peppers, onions and sauce, on a great Mancini's Italian sausage bun. When the sauce starts to drip down your chin, the bun can work as a sponge so you don't lose a drop!
Roasted Pork Club With Scallion Mayonnaise

These are awesome! Especially when I was able to use Maldonado's pernil (roast pork) that she cooked last Sunday, she is new here in So Fl she still cooks the authentic Puerto Rican way with the lime, lemon and sour oranges, it is a miracle that there was anything leftover. Here is the sandwich using her pernil. A great combination of flavors!
Toasted Sunny-Side up Egg and Cheese Sandwiches

My DH loves these sandwiches, try to cook the egg until just slightly soft so the the yolk runs when you bite into it! The amounts listed are only a guidline you may adjust to taste, I usually use 2 eggs for one sandwich, throw a couple slices of bacon or a pork breakfast patty on also, *SOOOO* good! :) -- posted by KITTENCAL

Taco Burgers With Chipotle Mayonnaise

Another variation of the classic hamburger! It goes on and on! This will become one of your favorites.Chop up some jalapeños for those with the cast iron stomach. Chipotle peppers are smoked jalapeños. They usually come in cans and have a vinegar based sauce. You can omit the egg if you serve your meat rare or medium-rare.Ole'.To add as note re: the burger patties not holding together, after reviewing all of the reviews, it is my descision not to change the recipe. I make these often and have never had the problem. If recipes like meatloaf, etc.and this one don't hold together, more breadcrumbs are needed. If too dry, add some more liquid such a a few drops of water. -- posted by FLUFFSTER

Southern Pork Barbecue (For Sandwiches)

This is the way I learned to make pork barbecue. You get the best of two worlds with this method: 1) you get the smoky grilled flavor; and, 2) you get the ease of controlling the tenderness of the pork by using an indoor oven. Most pork barbecue recipes taste great, but I tried to keep this one relatively SIMPLE so that new chefs can turn out a professional-level barbecue. With this barbecue, I always serve my: Recipe #146502. If you prefer a vinegar-based, sweet and sour slaw on your sandwiches, you can use this one: Recipe #185592. Either way, prepare yourself for some great barbecue and slaw sandwiches. Enjoy! -- posted by Bone Man

Old Time Ham Salad (For Sandwiches)

Yes, this is the REAL DEAL, folks -- this is the super great-tasting ham salad spread that you used to be able to buy at the mom and pop stores back in the '50s and '60s. It makes a lot but it will go fast. I could eat these ham salad sandwiches on sesame-seed buns with a little lettuce every day of the week. Don't use cheap bologna in this recipe or you'll be disappointed -- I like to use Kahn's Club Bologna. Also, you'll need some sort of meat grinder to make this -- a food processor does NOT yield a good consistency. I use my Kitchen-Aide Grinder attachment. This is an easy way to make large sized sandwiches that are great at parties or large gatherings.
Family's Favorite Hamburgers

I don't like burgers that have a ton of unidentifiable ingredients in them so I decided to keep this one simple. It works perfect for any condiment or topping. My favorite burger is the Rodeo Burger from Buzz Inn in Washington so I felt this would work well with those toppings. Sauteed onions, crispy bacon, barbeque sauce, and cheese. This kept everyone guessing about what was in them because they do keep very moist and at the end of the night as everyone was leaving, I couldn't even count how many people said "The hamburgers were great" as they said good night and thanked us for dinner. I work the meat for a while and sprinkle the salt over just a little at a time so it gets distributed and I know for sure that there isn't a huge salt pocket that will get stuck in one of the patties. Sorry, I don't actually know serving size because we didn't even use all the meat up and patties size will differ; freeze unused meat for later if it hasn't been thawed. -- posted by Christineyy!

Cheddar Cheese and Chutney Toasted Doorstep Sandwich!

A real old fashioned British style "Doorstep" sandwich, jazzed up a wee bit by adding chutney with mayonnaise and then toasting it........just delicious! The only criteria for these toasted "sarnies" is that you use THICK slices of good quality white Farmhouse style bread; such as home-made or Artisanal crusty bread! And, a good quality Cheddar cheese - preferably mature with good mayonnaise and tangy chutney! Although I have given the method for grilling (broiling) these sarnies, they'll be fine if they're made in an electric sandwich or grilling machine, such as a George Foreman. There is no need to add the chutney separately then, just add it to the cheese and mayonnaise mixture.
Porchetta - Italian Marketplace Slow Roast Pulled Pork Sandwich

This is JUST gorgeous! A domestic take on the classic Italian marketplace or street food, Porchetta, which is actually roast suckling pig. Porchetta is thickly sliced and served in ciabatta bread as a delectable hot sandwich throughout Italy. My recipe is a much-adapted recipe taken from one of Nigella Lawson's cookbooks, and it is SO easy to make at home. I cook mine in the crock-pot for meltingly soft and tender pulled pork - however, I have also given traditional roasting directions in this recipe. Preparation time includes the 24 hour period required for the pork to marinade in its herbed and spiced rub. -- posted by French Tart

These are great for a quick lunch or a soup and sandwich night. Kids love these as well as the grown ups. Sourdough is another fantastic choice of bread to grill these on. You can interchange any type of cheese. Please use the best ketchup you can find, I use Heinz, as it will make all of the difference. -- posted by FLUFFSTER

Build Your Own Canadian Cranberry and Herb Turkey Burgers!

Build your own burger - the recipe here is for a low-fat cranberry and herb turkey burger, with LOTS of options! Plump semi-dried Canadian cranberries and fresh chopped herbs are added to lean, low-fat turkey mince for a moist and flavourful burger, and without the guilt! I have offered the bacon, cheese, assorted condiments and the burger bun as an option; if you are REALLY watching your calories and fat intake, just go with the plain burger and a lovely crispy mixed salad on the side. Turkey mince can be a little bland, so the addition of the herbs and cranberries adds a real flavour injection. Try to use freshly chopped herbs for the best flavour, if you do use dried herbs, reduce the quantities by half, as dried herbs are more pungent than fresh. If you prefer a slightly sweeter taste, use Craisins, the sweetened dried cranberries that are available in North America and Canada; this recipe has been posted as a thank you to a Canadian friend on Recipezaar, who kindly sent me some Craisins, along with lots of other Canadian goodies! Merci beaucoup! -- posted by French Tart

Kittencal's Simple and Delicious Salmon Salad Sandwich

As like my recipe#116814 this is simple but big on flavor and also will work wonderful using cooked fresh cold leftover salmon in place of canned, once you taste this you will crave it all the time! ---plan ahead the salmon mixture needs to chill for at least 2 hours or more before using don't think about using it before that time the longer chilling time the better! --- two cans of salmon should give you three sandwiches but it will depend on how much salmon filling you use --- you may also add in 1/2 cup or more of finely chopped seeded cucumber if desired, all amounts may be adjusted to taste. -- posted by KITTENCAL

Kinda Sorta Tex Mex Burger

Super Bowl Buffalo Wing Stuffed Sandwich

Like wings and like big stuffed sandwiches that are great foods for a superbowl party … Well this is the best of both worlds. Great buffalo wing taste, celery and carrots for a crunch, a wonderful blue cheese sauce all in a nice thick crunchy sandwich. Please feel free to use your own wing sauce and homemade blue cheese but a store bought sauce for both will work just fine for this. The chicken and vegetables can be made ahead so all it takes is a few minutes to put it together, and bake for 20 minutes either on the grill or in the oven. Slice and serve with all your other favorite party foods.

The ultimate Buffalo Wing Sandwich. This is perfect for a party cuz you can make it all ahead and just put it together and grill. BBQ, Superbowl party, or a football night dinner with friends.

Add a good salad, some fries or onion rings or a potato salad and you got dinner. I promise you will love it.

FYI, if you don't like provolone, you can use mozzarella if you prefer. -- posted by SarasotaCook

Porchetta - Italian Marketplace Pulled Pork Sandwich (Crock Pot)

Tender succulent boneless pork roast is rubbed with olive oil and seasonings and slowly roasted to perfection in the crock pot until it is falling apart, then stuffed into warmed and buttered Italian ciabatta rolls. A wonderfully simplified version of the classic Porchetta Italian Market Place Sandwich by Nigella Lawson. -- posted by BecR

This recipe came from French's (think yellow mustard) website. I plan to make it tomorrow night but wanted to go ahead and get it into one of my cookbooks. I've been looking for a recipe for Sloppy Joes that wasn't sweet and I hope this is it. -- posted by A Pinch of This ...
