If at all possible, use the Bragg's Liquid Aminos, found in almost any large grocery store in the health food section.
Charred-Tomato Vinaigrette

Another summer tomato recipe - will be using Rio Grandes, San Marzanos & Amish Golds as they ripen for this vinagrette. Instructor-chef John Vollertsen of the Vista Clara Ranch Resort & Spa in Galisteo, New Mexico, created this mildly sweet and tangy dressing to add a bit of zip to greens.
Basic Vinaigrette

Based on a recipe from Jordan Maerin’s book, Raw Foods for Busy People. Jordan advises, “Keep this one handy. It makes a great marinade too.” Jordan suggests marinating cherry tomatoes or mushrooms, or any other vegetable of your choice, in the Basic Vinaigrette for three hours at room temperature, stirring often, or overnight in the refrigerator, stirring occasionally, to enjoy as a salad garnish, or as munchies at any time of day. I haven’t tried this yet. -- posted by mersaydees

Red Onion and Poppy Seed Salad Dressing

I got this from a lady at church who served it for lunch. At least four of us mobbed her the minute we tasted it (luckily she'd brought copies). It's almost like a cross between vidalia onion dressing and regular poppy seed dressing. It's sweet, creamy, and tangy all in one! This recipe yields enough to fill a small-ish mason jar. Cook time is chill time. -- posted by EmJoMay

Springtime Salad With Strawberries

I brought this salad to Easter dinner, and it was a huge hit! One of those times when you are sorry when the leftovers are gone, and our hostess asked me to leave some of it behind with them. Sweeter than average. On the first batch, I added smashed strawberries to the dressing, but they clogged up the pouring jar's opening, so use discretion on that one according to what vessel you are using! Candied nuts would probably also be good. -- posted by Laura Meehan

Broccoli Crunch With Creamy Almond Dressing

Tiny green florets, crisp apples, crunchy shallots, candied nuts and slivered red onions are tossed in a barely sweet, creamy almond vinaigrette.

Find the freshest broccoli you can and be sure not to overcook them, you just want to blanch them quickly. A wonderful mix of crunch and color! You can make the components ahead of time, but don't dress the salad until you are ready to serve it; preserving the various crunches.
Bibb Salad With Basil Green Goddess Dressing

Green goddess dressing was invented in the 1920's at San Francisco's Palace Hotel as a tribute to William Archer's hit play, The Green Goddess. It gets it's bright green color from lots of fresh green herbs. This dressing was originally made with tarragon, but has been updated with basil, which actually has more flavor! Delicious on green salad, but also great served with vegetables like asparagus and broccoli.

Uncooked beets have a texture that is very similar to that of raw carrots. This is an easy and delicious salad that takes very little time. Grated fresh beets are tossed with walnuts and a simple vinaigrette, and arranged on a plate of tender salad greens. The bleu cheese pairs nicely with the beets.
Mixed Herb Salad With Borage : La Salade De Plusieurs Herbes

A delightful old French salad recipe, which uses fresh aromatic herbs with fresh lettuce leaves and a simple dressing. Serve this with poached salmon or cold chicken for an elegant dinner party dish. Adapted from a 16th century French translation of a book originally written in Latin in 1474. NB: Borage is an excellent culinary herb and can be used in a variety of ways. Borage is far better used fresh, as the flavour and colour deteriorate when dried and some essential oils lost. Traditional recipes recommend borage leaves and seeds, together with fennel in salads for increasing the milk supply in nursing mothers. The leaves and flowers are still added for flavour and garnish to wine cups, Pimms and gin-based summer cocktails and the flowers are still candied for confectionary as cake and ice cream decorations. -- posted by French Tart

Easy Tomato, Red Onion, and Kalamata Olive Summer Salad

This refreshingly-light summer salad is my absolute favorite way to enjoy vine-ripened summer tomatoes. It's a quick and easy tummy-satisfying dish on a warm midday when the last thing I want to do is turn on the stove. The juicy tomatoes, sweet onions and rich-tasting Kalamatas are dressed simply with olive oil, red wine vinegar, fresh herbs, salt and pepper. If desired, add whatever other garden veggies you enjoy - our family loves cucumbers; or add a slice of feta and some sliced green peppers and you've got a Greek “village” salad! Don't forget the crusty Italian bread to mop up the tomato and vinaigrette juices. -- posted by Feast Your Eyes!

Curried Quinoa Salad With Yogurt-Cumin Dressing

This is a "flexitarian" recipe - meaning, it's readily adaptable to a vegetarian/non-vegetarian version - a boon for those who have to deal with both in a household. While this recipe is vegetarian, the author, Dawn Jackson Blatner, says 4 ozs of cooked salmon or tuna can be used instead of the chickpeas. Check your quinoa package for prep information - usually quinoa needs to be washed to get rid of a bitter coating, although it sometimes comes pre-washed. -- posted by duonyte

Honey-Roasted Pear Salad With Thyme and Verjus Dressing

An elegant and sophisticated salad that makes good use of verjus (verjuice) in the dressing. I use a local blue cheese, such as Roquefort in this salad; however, please do use a local blue cheese of your choice - any creamy or robust blue cheese will marry well with the pears and tart dressing. Verjuice, or verjus, is the juice of unripe grapes. This staple of French provincial cooking, a key ingredient in Dijon mustard, has the tartness of lemon juice and the acidity of vinegar, but the harshness of neither. Its delicate flavour is ideal for everything from stocks to sweet syrups - as long as you know what you're doing. Verjus was also a common ingredient used in English cooking throughout the Middle Ages. I try to make a batch of verjus every year with the green grapes from my non-dessert grape vine - as I love cooking with it. This recipe came from an old copy of Bon Appetit magazine from 2005. Prep time includes the time it takes the pears to cool. -- posted by French Tart

Spicy Peanut Thai Vegetable Salad

This is a very easy, amazingly tasty vegetable salad that takes minutes to make. The combination of all the greens, reds, orange and yellows in the vegetables make a wonderful presentation. It's the vinaigrette that brings all the veggies together. You can use any veggies you happen to have on hand; I think it would be great with tomatoes and lightly cooked asparagus. I made it at the last minute for a picnic with the veggies I had in my vegetable bin - everyone raved.
Fresh Figs With Stilton and Walnuts in a Honey Drizzle Dressing

A new fig recipe for this year! Similar to my Recipe #250866 but with blue cheese and a honey drizzle dressing. I like to tuck a few fig leaves amongst the salad for colour........but please do wipe them first! Serve these figs with crusty bread, some mixed herb and salad leaves.......and a glass of chilled wine. Quantities for figs depend on the size; allow one or two large figs per person or, between three and six for medium to small figs. This makes a fabulous dinner party starter, or a light salad for lunch..........I sometimes serve this for the cheese course too, for something a little different. -- posted by French Tart

Creamy Tahini Sauce/Salad Dressing

This is a nice and rich tahini-based salad dressing that goes great with romaine and butter lettuces, and also makes a nice garnish for falafels, veggie burgers, chickpea salads, and tons of other great vegetarian and/or Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes. Serve with pita breads as a snack or appetizer. I used packaged tahini paste that I bought from a gourmet foods store that happened to be really good, but you can probably make your own too. NOTE: the lemon juice amounts shown are correct! It is 1/4 liquid cup plus an extra tablespoon. Also, you can add 1/4 tsp sugar if you find it too rough. -- posted by the80srule

Sesame-Soy Dressing for One

I had some soy ginger dressing but I had forgotten that I'd used it up and my chicken garden salad really cried out for it. I whipped this up and really like it. No ginger though.

Note: I made this low calorie but one may find this dressing does not stick to the salad well. If calories aren't a problem for you, replace the water with a mild oil such as canola and add water if needed after tasting. -- posted by Chef Tweaker

Easy Italian Dressing

I L.O.V.E using Italian dressing, but the store bought kind can be a little salty. I found this on another website, and it is so good... you'll want to put it on everything. You can very the dry ingredients, I use whatever I think smells good and whatever I have. Instead of a fancy bottle, I use a left-over dressing bottle to store it... double the "mixing" recipe and it works fine. The dry should last you a long time. -- posted by MamaMount

El Torito Restaurant's Caesar salad has been a popular favorite for decades; I obtained the recipe in 1994 when it was published in the Los Angeles Times and have made it many times since.
Creamy Cucumber Salad Dressing

Delicious dairy-free version of cucumber dressing. I liked to use 2 small cucumbers, rather than 1 large because of the seeds. IF using a large or non-organic cucumber, make sure there is no wax on the peel, and scrap some of the seeds out! For a thicker, creamier dressing add more cashews and less water; for a thinner, lighter dressing add more water and fewer nuts. -- posted by Kozmic Blues

Gold Salad Dressing

This is a great salad dressing that I found in a raw cookbook. It's a thin dressing, but I think thin dressings coat the salad better. I use a little more honey than it calls for (about an extra tablespoon or so). I use an electric juicer to squeeze the lemons, which makes the prep time very quick.
From Cooking Light's special on Monticello-inspired recipes. This looks like it's too fancy and complicated for me to make, but looks delicious if someone else would make it for me! ;) Or if you have an actual grill; I live in the ghetto and could put a holey trash can lid over the stove. I don't know what "peasant bread" is but I assume it'd be a small baguette type of bread. I'm not a fan of balsamic vinegar, I'd probably use red wine vinegar or a different kind of dressing, but posting as is for those who like it. BTW, you'll need at least 6 grilling skewers for this. Probably strong 8" metal ones that could pierce figs. I can get sunflower oil cheaply from a Mexican grocer nearby but if you can't find it, canola oil or salad oil will work in a pinch.
Tangy Blueberry Vinaigrette

A different and colorful salad dressing, not too oil-heavy. And it's vegan! I can get sunflower oil cheaply from a Mexican grocer nearby but if you can't find it, canola oil or salad oil will work in a pinch.
Picante Ranch Dressing

I tried to make a dressing similar to the one they give you with the taco salad at Qdobo. This came out different but still tasty. Yields a little over 2 cups. -- posted by the80srule

Cold Sesame Noodle Salad With Spicy Peanut Dressing

This wonderful Asian noodle salad is from "Perfect Party Food" by Diane Phillips, who is known as the Do-Ahead Diva. I've attended cooking classes taught by Ms. Phillips and she is an awesome cook and instructor. I love the way she provides Do-Ahead tips throughout the recipe instructions. I have all her cookbooks, but in my humble opinion, Perfect Party Food (a James Beard Award winner) is her best. -- posted by Cookin'Diva
