Sweet Potato Biscuits

This is the yummy way we use up leftover sweet potatoes at my house. Often I'll bake sweet potato fries and have them leftover. I just put them in the food processor to puree them and then use them to make these. Prep time does not include sweet potato cooking time. Mine often have some pepper and salt in them because I had put them on the fries. But you can make these sweeter by adding 1/4 cup of sugar with the dry ingredients. -- posted by ladypit

Sweet Potato Biscuits (Vegan)

These biscuits are THE BEST!!! This recipe is adapted from a non-vegan recipe I got from Williams-Sonoma, so it can easily be converted back to non-vegan by using real butter and buttermilk in place of the soured soy milk. Keep the butter and shortening cold to make the biscuits flaky, and handle the dough as little as possible so they will be tender. Cutting the biscuits into rectangles avoids leaving scraps which would need to be rerolled, which can lead to tough biscuits, but I have found that rerolling them once doesn't have that much of an impact. -- posted by Caitlin Williams

After scraping the baked flesh from the rinds, use an electric mixer to beat until smooth.
Cabbage-Beef Stuffed Bread Buns (Runza)

I make this using my own runza bread dough (to be posted soon on this site) but using frozen thawed bread dough makes it much quicker and easier, make certain to thaw the frozen dough according to the directions on the package --- the recipe amounts stated will make 18 buns as that is what I always make, you could reduce the recipe if so desired but I would suggest to make the full amout they will be devoured quickly! the ground beef/cabbage filling may be made a day in advance, my family likes spicy so I add in cayenne pepper or dried chili flakes to the ground beef mixture, also you could add in some crumbled bacon pieces too, cooking time is for the buns only --- -- posted by KITTENCAL

Sweet Potato Rolls

This makes a slightly sweet dinner roll with a little texture and color, I love them, you can't really taste sweet potatoes but people will ponder on how they were made, perfect for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
This recipe is not beginner friendly, the amount of flour to use will greatly depend on the size of the potato and how soft you let it cook, I use a pretty big sweet potato and I let it cook until pretty soft so it will blend in better so I use just about all of the flour recommended. -- posted by Chipfo

I'm anxious to try these yummy looking rolls. I love the combination of pumpkin, cinnamon and pecans all wrapped up in a soft sweet roll. This recipe was found in Libby's Home Baked Goodness cookbook. For larger rolls, see the note at the bottom. Times listed does not include time for dough to rise. -- posted by DuChick

Thomas Jefferson's Sweet Potato Biscuits 1774

This recipe is from the National Constitution Center (NCC), Philadelphia PA. According to the NCC, Thomas Jefferson's biscuits were served at the first meeting of the First Continental Congress in 1774 and are served today at the famous City Tavern (built in 1773) located in Philadelphia's historic district at 2nd and Walnut Streets. These are a light, tasty biscuit (scone), with or without the pecans. I enjoy them with butter and honey. The nutrition can be improved by using a margarine instead of butter and leaving out the pecans. -- posted by Aimee88

Cheap & Deep Biscuit Dough Pizza

Ever come home and wonder what's for dinner? And you are in the mood for pizza, but take-out is too expensive, the frozen pizza is too expensive, and virtually tasteless, and worst of all- your bank account is next to zip because instead of a Christmas Bonus you got the pink slip? Is that what's buggin' you? I feel your pain- and I love to see what's in the 'fridge and the pantry, and with a few minutes of fun you can have a fantastic deep dish pizza that will rival anything Lou Malnati in Chicago can dish out!
I've been unemployed for 6 weeks and was craving pizza one night- and used what I had. I've made 3 of these in the past 4 weeks and each one gets better than the one before! -- posted by Chef MacKinnon

Cinnamon-Swirl Pumpkin Rolls

This recipe is from King Arthur Flour and is a delicious fall twist on cinnamon buns. And, they are somewhat healthier because they contain some whole wheat flour (and a vegetable!). The dough is very easy to handle and rises up beautifully. These would also be good with a cream cheese icing.
Dough requires a total of at least 2 1/2 hour rising time (if you use liquid milk instead of dry, you may require slightly longer rising time). You can make the dough the day before. Just let them rise for about 30 minutes, wrap them up, and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, let them rise a bit more and warm up, unwrap and then bake. -- posted by blucoat
