Perfect Whole Wheat Biscuits

These biscuits are sooo delicious! A mix of white and wheat flour makes them light yet healthy. It is preferable to use a soft winter wheat flour for your all purpose flour. My local health food store purchases super fresh ground flour from a nearby flour mill so it makes for spectacular baking! I usually make a double batch and cut them to be the super sized biscuits so that we can make breakfast biscuits with eggs, bacon and cheese! I don't change the recipe at all, ever. Tip: my grandmother always said that to make good, flaky biscuits handle the dough as little as possible, barely kneading it at all. -- posted by sassafrasnanc

Poppy Seed Sweet Rolls

I have an adventurous child who decided she needed some summer spending money so she started selling baked goods at our local Farmer's Market. This is one item she made last year. She copied the recipe out of a very old cookbook but never wrote down the title of the book. These really are wonderful. They would be perfect to serve at a ladies tea or any time you have guests staying with you. -- posted by Chef Buggsy Mate

This is a recipe from my mother. We grew up with this recipe which was used for our rolls, cinnamon rolls, and tea-rings at Christmas time. The mashed potatoes are a huge key, so make sure not to leave them out.
I Thought I Hated Canned Biscuits

I had to have an iron skillet and dutch oven to cook everything when we went camping. We always had a fish fry and since my husband didn't like hushpuppies (strange man) he came up with the bright idea of deep frying some canned biscuits and as it turned out, one of his better ideas. They tasted great, especially with butter and honey. Next morning I placed some butter in the iron skillet and ploped in some "canned" biscuits put on the lid and browned on the bottom then turned over and browned the other side, they were wonderful! Cook time is an estimate. -- posted by Cooking202

Plain Good Butter Biscuits

This has become my go-to recipe for biscuits. It's simple, quick and uses ingredients I almost always have on hand. I've heard that the best biscuits are made with a butter/lard combo. However, I don't have access to real, additive-free lard and will not touch the chemical mystery food that is shortening, so...Here I am with the next best thing...The Plain Good Butter Biscuit. I got this from Brenda Hyde at SeedsofKnowledge.com and it's based on a 1933 recipe. -- posted by RedFarmGirl

Maple Bacon Biscuits

Breakfast in a biscuit! My husband and I had these during a trip to LA and they were fabulous. I am not a fan of maple, but these biscuits are very good. I just happened across the original recipe while reading food related articles. This recipe makes 2 dozen, however, I freeze 1 1/2 dozen and take them out as needed.
Anna's Brilliant Biscuits

These biscuits are so good! My family loved them- said that they tasted like the biscuits from KFC! They come out to be really light and fluffy. The dough is also very nice, and I even like to use it in one of my desserts. If you need to save time, you don't have to sift the flour- but the sifted flour does make them a little bit more light. This recipe will make more or less biscuits depending on the size you make them. Enjoy! -- posted by edlos1

Cinnamon Pecan Rolls , Burrito Style

I wanted cinnamon rolls, but I didn't want to go to all the trouble of making the traditional ones.So I took a can of Pillsbury "Butter Tastin" Grands some pecans and came up with these. If you want to make smaller rolls just cut the biscuits in half, and adjust the amount of margarine used on each cirle of dough. The amounts of the ingredients in the recipe is what I liked to use, but the amounts can be changed to suit your own tastes. If desired you top with a glaze. My niece DarksLight ( who is a member here) helped me come up with the name.Submitted to "ZAAR" on October 2nd,2008 -- posted by Chef shapeweaver ©

Cranberry White Chocolate Scones

A very tasty scone recipe that takes no time at all. Though the recipe calls for dried cranberries, I usually use a mix of dried cherries and berries for variety and often use more than the 1/2 cup called for. I also sprinkle turbinado sugar on the top for a bit of crunch. I specify cutting this in sixths, which makes a good size scone, but if you want smaller ones, try eighths and cut down on baking time. -- posted by chinasmom2000

Mom's Speedy Doughnuts

My mom got this recipe off a can of Pillsbury Refrigerated Biscuits. We all love doughnuts and this is a quick and extremely easy way to make them, they are wonderful and taste scrumptious. They really "hit the spot" if you are craving doughnuts. She uses Vanilla and Chocolate whipped cake icing to frost the doughnuts and just rolls the doughnut holes in powdered sugar. YUM! * Note this is her adapted recipe that she uses, but you can coat your doughnuts with the icing or coating of your choice. -- posted by i_luv_chocolate

Bavarian Pretzels/ Pretzel Rolls (Laugenbrezeln)

This easy recipe is from one of my all time favorite bread making cookbooks Local Breads by Daniel Leader with Lauren Chattman with the directions tweaked just a little. I usually double the recipe and have always had outstanding results. The dough can be refrigerated from 2-24 hours so I sometimes bake 1 batch and then save the rest of the dough for the next day so they are fresh. I mostly use the recipe to make pretzel rolls and often wrap the dough around hot dogs or sausages which are a favorite of my DS. I occasionally add a little extra flour depending on the weather to get my dough as directed below. The dough should be a little moist/ sticky. Add only a tablespoon at a time if extra is needed. Please read the recipe through before starting. This recipe prints out as 2 pages for those that may want to set their print job to 2 sided :) -- posted by Brenda.

Fastest Cinnamon Buns / Rolls

These are delicious, super fast, tender and moist (thanks to buttermilk & cottage cheese) rolls with no yeast (or rising time) required. The dough is very easy to work with and they are good with or without the glaze. Recipe was created by Kathy Farrell-Kingsley for last-minute orders at her Connecticut bakery, "Great Cakes" and was printed in "Fine Cooking Magazine" (Issue 88).
VARIATION: Apple-Butter Cinnamon Buns: For filling, mix 3/4 cup apple butter, 1-1/2 Tbs. melted butter, and 1 tsp. ground cinnamon in a small bowl. Omit the melted butter from the main recipe and spread the dough rectangle with the apple mixture, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges. Sprinkle with 3/4 cup (3 oz.) finely chopped walnuts, if desired. Roll, cut, bake, and ice as directed. Because this filling is wetter, the buns may need to bake for 30 minutes. -- posted by blucoat

Banana Nut Muffins, Healthy

I adapted this recipe from a mango bread recipe but substituted yogurt for sour cream, vegetable oil for butter, cut the amound of sugar in half and used local honey instead of sugar, and used whole wheat flour. I also added almond meal, oats, flax seed, blueberries, and almonds to give some healthy fats, fiber, and sweetness. The result is not too sweet but still delicious and somewhat healthy muffins. This makes about 6-7 muffins, I live alone and do not need 12, but double if you need to make more :) -- posted by La Niña del pimiento

Blueberry Breakfast Biscuits - 1 Point

These aren't really biscuits, but they do make a nice low point breakfast treat. If you are expecting a traditional baking powder biscuit, this is the the recipe you want. The oatmeal gives the biscuits a nuttier flavor and they end up tasting more like a blueberry muffin than a biscuit. The batter is rather runny, so I recommend you use a cookie scoop when putting them on the baking sheet. I was given this recipe by a friend in WWs. These are 1 point per biscuit. -- posted by Erindipity

Strawberry Crescent French Toast

I created this recipe as an experiment that turned into a family favorite. Wonderful served with Sunday breakfast or brunch. Also delicious with raspberries instead of strawberries. Sure to delight the senses!
This recipe also works as a low sugar/carb recipe! Just substitute sugar free jam, Splenda and Sugar free maple syrup for the sugary sweet ingredients in this recipe (I do this for my diabetic husband all the time) - you'll be surprised how wonderful it tastes. -- posted by EmilieLearnstoCook

Cinnabon-Ish Cinnamon Rolls (Gluten-Free)

This is a combination of two or three recipes. Makes some absolutely delicious and decadent cinnamon rolls. The frosting is good straight out of the bowl. I have successfully substituted buckwheat flour for the millet flour in this recipe and a review has used oat flour to great success as well.
Shortcut Filipino-Style Ensaymada Especial

For those far from the Philippines and nostalgic for Ensaymada Especial, this is a quick, easy, & very tasty way to experience it. I got the idea for using Hawaiian sweet rolls (if you have access to it---available @ WalMart) when I visited a food blog several years ago. I have since improved on the recipe by adding shredded mild cheddar cheese and prepackaged sweet diced ham (John Morrell brand) to give it that extra-special touch. -- posted by chef1aB

Fat Free, Low Cal Biscuits!

Let me start off by saying HALLELUJAH!! My parents are BIG biscuit eaters, and dinner every night is a battle for me to turn down the biscuits. I adapted this recipe from a traditional "mayo" biscuit, and it is yummy!
Easy-To-Make Sticky Rolls

Everyone will think that you spent hours making these delicious sticky rolls. Make them for brunch, dinner parties, around the holidays, anytime! They are great served with a cup of coffee in the morning, or just as a breakfast treat. You can certainly substitute chopped pecans for the walnuts, if you prefer. And, you can make your own bread dough if you don't want to use the prepackaged dough (but, why?). Even add a little allspice or nutmeg to the recipe as well as the cinnamon. The honey, nuts, and brown sugar give these rolls a wonderful healthy, wholesome flavor. Enjoy! :) Prep time does not include time for rolls to rise. -- posted by Alan in SW Florida
