Coral Cooler

This pretty drink is also refreshing. I use Fresca soda and it is one of my favorite sodas. I was thrilled when I found this because even though I like drinking it from the bottle, this is a special treat for me with two of my other favorite fruits. I usually have to use two jars of cherries to get the 1/2 cup of cherry juice. That's no problem for me, though; I keep lots of cherries on hand because I snack on them. -- posted by Redneck Epicurean

Greenbrier Tropical Lemonade

My high school best friend and I used to take a trip to the Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg, TN area every year when I was in college. One year, we went three times! Her parents owned a timeshare and we could stay anywhere. Greenbrier Lodge was one of the places on our list of really nice places for us to stay. When we visited Thanksgiving weekend (Yes, we got up on Friday morning and drove down there to hit all the Christmas outlet day after sales and LOADED UP!!), they had afternoon treats in the lobby. There were all kinds of neat nibbles, some warm punch and this! Shocking, because I would've figured it a summertime treat, but the lady putting the food out said this was requested year-round. And it sure was good! Serving size is based on how much your glass will hold! -- posted by Redneck Epicurean

Perfect Purple Punch

This is my variation of a punch recipe from the Better Homes & Gardens cookbook. Raspberry everything! I've made it for several parties and potlucks and always have requests for the recipe. If I don't make it people get mad! I usually double or triple it and always have extra ginger-ale on hand to pour in when it gets thick. The dry ice is optional but makes for a very cool bubbly fog effect. -- posted by Engrossed

Banana Crush Punch

It is no secret that I am a die-hard nanner fan. I love nanners any way I can get 'em. However, I think my favorite way to have them is in a flavorful drink. This recipe I got from an ancient cookbook compiled by home ec teachers. Miz Knaus (whoever you are), I salute you!! (Passive time is freeze time - it will vary depending on how firm you freeze it and how far ahead you make it. I would make it the day before serving, so I said 8 hours (overnight). -- posted by Redneck Epicurean

This recipe is from our electric co-op. I like it because it is relatively inexpensive to make, serves quite a bit, and is not necessarily diabetic-friendly, but has no added sugar.
Vineyard Punch

Most entertaining in Iceland is of the small dinner party variety & punch is not an esp favored beverage unless being served to a large crowd. That said, I found this recipe in my MasterCook computer program & the National Pork Producers Council was acknowledged, although I fail to see the connection. It did sound good to me, so I decided to share it & hope it will prove a good choice for 1 of your occasions. Enjoy!
Agua De Valencia - Knock Your Socks off Spanish Cava Punch!

Valencia is true orange growing country, and this recipe is based on fresh orange juice, which is best - try not to use carton or bottled orange juice. And beware, this innocuous-sounding drink is strong!
Sparkling Cranberry Punch

There are a couple of other sparkling cranberry punch recipes here on zarr, but nothing at all like this one from *River Road Recipes* originally published by the Junior League of Baton Rouge in 1959. By 1980 the combined sales of RRR & RRR II (A 2nd Helping) had earned $1,000,000 for their community trust fund. I thought that was pretty awesome! I modified the recipe slightly to include 1/4 cup additional water + 1/4 cup dried cranberries. (Time has been estimated & does not include time to cool & then be well-chilled under refrigeration). *Enjoy* -- posted by twissis

Champagne Cup

This frosty cold drink takes inspiration from the famous Pimm's Cup. Freeze water in a round mold with slices of lemon, orange and maraschino cherries arranged artistically. The large block of ice melts more slowly and adds less water to the punch.
My friend Randy came up with this drink, and I have no idea why he calls it that. I’ll have to ask him… :) It’s as delicious as it is fun to make and drink! This works really well for having along at a campout, where everybody will be sitting around eating, talking, and drinking in a circle. Use whatever fruit you like, but try to include something like watermelon that releases juice easily. -- posted by Uncle Dobo

Authentic Cypriot Taverna Brandy Sour Cocktail

These were without doubt the most popular drink that we served in the restaurant I ran in Cyprus! They are known as the National Drink of Cyprus, and are delicious as well as being very refreshing. We used to make these with the local Cypriot brandy, which is not as strong as normal French brandy or cognac and has a delectable caramel taste to it. We also used the local angostura bitters, known as "Cock Drops", which as you can imagine, brought raised eyebrows and howls of laughter from overseas guests and tourists! A little history behind the cocktail: The Cypriot Brandy Sour style was developed following the introduction of the first blended brandy made on Cyprus, by the Haggipavlu family, in the early 1930s. The cocktail was developed at the Forest Park Hotel, in the hill-resort of Plátres in the beautiful Troodos Mountain range, for the young King Farouk of Egypt, who often stayed at the hotel during his frequent visits to the island. The Brandy Sour was introduced as an alcoholic substitute for iced tea, as a way of disguising the Muslim monarch's preference for Western-style cocktails. The drink subsequently spread to other bars and hotels in the fasionable Platres area, before making its way to the coastal resorts of Limassol, Paphos and Kyrenia, and the capital Nicosia. With increasing numbers of tourists visiting the island in the last thirty years, and the large garrison of British servicemen stationed on the island, the Cypriot Brandy Sour is now known around the world. This is how we used to make them in our restaurant - a trade secet shared!! -- posted by French Tart

Cointreau Fruit Punch

While looking thru my holiday recipes, I came across an old favorite. Totally forgot about this one. I'm adding it to my beverage collection so I don't forget it again. This makes a great Adult Punch. I've made an ice ring with the cranberry juice in a jello ring and add it to the punch before serving. Keeps it from getting watered down and looks pretty in a punch bowl. This has Contreau in it, but you can use OJ or even Triple Sec. Whichever you prefer. Half the recipe for 4 servings easily. -- posted by Vseward (Chef~V)

Almond Tofu

This is a very popular dessert dish in Asian countries. It's easy, simple, and refreshing! It doesn't actually use tofu, but it's white and cubed, which resembles tofu, hence its name.
Prohibition Classic Cocktail

You can add some soda to this if you need to, but this is no bathtub cocktail! During Prohibition you cannot waste your time drinking a lighter drink. Lillet is a blend of rigorously selected wines and fruit liqueurs, aged in oak vats for around 12 months. Lillet Blanc has a golden color with candied orange, honey, pine resin, lime and fresh mint aromas. This is the stuff in the James Bond cocktails like the Vesper. -- posted by Jess4Freedom

Prohibition Party Punch

This recipe is from an old cookbook I found. Homemade wine or beer was legal as long as it contained no more than one-half per cent alcohol. From Every Woman's Cook Book by Mrs. Chas. F. Moritz (1926) p. 617. If you can find a bootlegger in your area, I think some rum or whiskey would really perk this up. This recipe makes a LOT! Please keep this in mind when preparing this party punch for your local Speakeasy :) -- posted by Jess4Freedom

Cranberry Cornucopia Sangria

Adapted from "Peterson's Holiday Helper," by Valerie Peterson (Clarkson Potter, 2008). This is a blend of all the favorite holiday flavors, not really a true sangria. You can use a sparkling cider or grape juice, or even a champagne if you'd like to. Cherries are an excellent addition to this drink as well. This is best left to sit for overnight to let the flavors blend well. -- posted by Jess4Freedom

Frozen Festive Vodka or Tequila Bottles With Herbs and Berries

Another GREAT Jamie Oliver recipe, and one that I am preparing for New Year's Eve! Jamie says you can use any spirits or liquor, but he suggestes vodka and tequila in his recipe. These bottles look SO festive and pretty, I plan to use holly, berries, bay leaves, fruit slices, ivy and woody herbs for my bottles this year. DO check that the liquor bottle fits INSIDE the plastic water bottle first! This recipe idea for serving liquor originates from Scandinavia. (Prep time is for freezing the bottles.) -- posted by French Tart
