Aunt Edna's Persimmon Pudding

This recipe comes from my great aunt Edna, which I got from my aunt Shirley. I always remember it from family reunions but only recently discovered how to make it. After making a couple batches and having them come out just as I remember as a kid, I decided I had to share it with the world. -- posted by Chef Curt

Apple Bread Pudding With Brandy Butterscotch Sauce

Innisfree Restaurant, Glacier, Washington. Fred and Lynn Berman are organic farmers who opened a restaurant to showcase their favorite seasonal foods. Harvest time is Lynn Berman's favorite time of year, when she often turns crisp, tart apples into this homey bread pudding. From The Best Northwest Places Cookbook (Volume 1). For the apples, use preferably jonagold, spartan, or melrose, cored and cut in 1/2-inch slices. -- posted by lazyme

Chai Tea Creme Brûlée

Soft ,creamy Créme Brûlée with the delicate hint of Chai tea will delight guests of all ages. This could be an alternative dessert this Thanksgiving - start a new tradition. Serve with your favorite biscotti or shortbread and seasonal fruit. There are many recipes for Chai tea, but in general it's black tea brewed with a mixture of such spices of cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and ginger and is diluted with milk and sugar. I always use Tetley tea bags, they are so good - the tea is so delicious. -- posted by Chef mariajane

Golden Syrup Puddings

A wonderful sponge type pudding. Just the thing when winter is knocking at your doortstep!
This recipe is made in small moulds and serving size will depend on the size of the moulds being used. Serving can range from 6 - 8 pending on your mould size!.

Gluten-Free Creamy Breakfast Rice Pudding

This was something I came up with this morning, because I was tired of nut/seed granola and cold milk. It turned out delicious!
For a lower sugar content, try using a packet of stevia in place of the agave nectar. You could also substitute almond milk or even water for the milk. -- posted by Jainene

Brennan's Bread Pudding With Brandy Sauce

When most bread goes stale it gets tossed in the trash or fed to the birds. But for some lucky loaves, going stale is just the beginning of a transformation into bread pudding - the ambrosial dessert that is a mainstay finale at Creole restaurants across New Orleans.
This recipe comes from a restaurant in the French Quarter in New Orleans. The thick creamy sauce is what makes it a truly memorable dessert. -- posted by Nadia Melkowits

Easy Vegan Pumpkin Pudding or Pie Filling Uses Nasoya Tofu!

I had these coupons for Nasoya Creations to get them for almost nothing, so I wanted to buy a few and experiment...and this one came out awesome. Note that tofu-based desserts are really an acquired taste! Thus I know all you vegans will like it but my more...carnivorous and/or dairy-loving readers may want to pass. Vegans don't have to miss out on the pumpkin pie. :) Better yet, it's up to you if you want to mix by hand or blender/food processor depending on what you have available to you. -- posted by the80srule

Tapioca Cream Cheese Pudding

I whipped this recipe together the other day when I finally got tired of buying ready-made tapioca pudding! Maybe one day I'll actually try it from scratch (if only I can find a really good outlet for scratch)! Pudding servings are usually set at 1/2 cup, but mine are considerably larger than that! This pudding is thick enough that I have even used it as a nice filling for a 3-layer cake! -- posted by Sydney Mike

I tried the recipe wth just regular limes and the flavor isn't quite the same - What a dessert this is! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did - -- posted by Chef mariajane

Ultimate Flan

That's what my mom called this recipe - "ultimate" , so I am assuming it's very good. Recipe was in her own writing. You can subsitute the vanilla with grated lime zest or orange zest (according to mom). If you want more caramel syrup, use 3/4 cup sugar instead of 1/2. Also, when caramelizing the sugar, do NOT let it get too dark - it will turn bitter. NOTE: Prep time is estimated. -- posted by Sweet PQ?

Chocolate Pudding for One

Looking for that chocolate pudding fix, and don't want to make alot ? Then here's the recipe to try. I found the basic recipe in the TOH 's 2001 Annual recipes, it was sent in to them by Anne Boesiger of Meridian, Idaho. Since I like a thicker and more intense chocolate flavor, the amounts of cornstarch and chocolate were changed. The database wouldn't let me add just a pinch of salt, so I had to put 1/8 teaspoon. Also, the way that the ingredients were added was changed too. Chill time is included in cook time. The longer you let this chill, the more intense the chocolate flavor will be.
Sensational Rice Custard Pudding

This is a very old recipe that was my husband's grandmother's own creation. She was well known for her cooking and baking. I have been making this for over 40 years and always get raving reviews. Once, a cousin gifted me with a very large glass bowl that had 8 smaller serving dishes. She included a note that this was to become 'the family dinners rice custard pudding bowl' as everyone requested that I make it for all our gatherings! For a creamier custard pudding, use Aborio rice or a medium grain rice; I prefer the short Aborio rice. Never use instant rice.

You may wish to use less sugar as this is a very sweet custard pudding, due to the condensed milk. I hope this becomes a favorite of your family too! -- posted by Debaylady

Easy Lemon Self Saucing Pudding

Been looking for the lemon delicious recipe I cooked many years ago but somewhere along lost the clipping (before ZAAR time) and this seems to come close to it though called a pudding (maybe searching in the wrong area) but it was good though sweeter than I remember (would need to work on the sugar content), certainly don't remember having the sprinkle sugar on top as per this recipe but I believe that what gives it its crispy top in this recipe. Serving suggestion was 4 but I think could be easily stretched to 6 served with cream and or icecream. i found that 1 lemon gave me the rind and juiced that but needed to juice a second lemon to get the full 1/2 cup (got a little more than that and added the lot). -- posted by I'mPat

Savory Autumn Creme Brulee Provencal

Lavender dominates the underlying medley of flavors, but in this version with herbs de provence provide a light, sweet and savory character that is very satisfying on an autumn evening. It is best to let the custard set overnight to "marry the flavors" and then cool down again before serving, so ideally you should plan on making this the day before serving then doing the sugar brulee and allowing the custard to set at room temperature well before serving for ideal flavor. -- posted by East Wind Goddess

Spooktacular Halloween Pudding Cups

Super fun Halloween treats that the kids are sure to enjoy. Easy to make and look great to!! I got the idea off of another website that used chocolate pudding but I thought using vanilla and dying it orange would be really cool since the pudding and oreos together would be traditional Halloween colors. This recipe can be easily divided in half and so on. For the pudding I used the kind that you cook verses the instant. I think the cooked pudding has a much nicer and thicker consistancy. The amount below for the oreos is a guesstimate because it wouldn't let me put down 1 large package of oreos but either way just one regular package of oreos crushed is what you need. Enjoy! -- posted by mamawheezy

Cranberry Bread Pudding and Amaretto Sauce

The only thing more comforting than a warm bread pudding on a cold day is one drizzled with a warm Amaretto sauce. The tartness of cranberries is a wonderful contrast to the sweeter elements of this dish, while the nuttiness of almonds and Amaretto takes it from "comforting" to gourmet, especially when matched with the rich apple and caramel flavors of Domaine Pinnacle Ice Cider from Quebec, Canada. -- posted by Chef mariajane

Christmas Plum Pudding

“guilt-Free Ice Cream Wannabe”

This delicious low-calorie dessert is a great way to satisfy your craving for a big bowl of chocolate ice cream without blowing your diet. The thickness of the Greek yogurt provides the creamy texture of ice cream for just a fraction of the calories. Also, by using frozen berries, the yogurt freezes as they are mixed in, giving the cool, frozen texture of real ice cream. The Fiber One cereal sprinkled on top provides a nice crunch and textural contrast - enjoy! -- posted by Chef #1453068

Sunday's Best Rice Pudding (Traditional Style)

In memory of my dad who used to take me to Pickwick Restaurant for rice pudding every Sunday afternoon. This is the closest recipe I could find to that which was served at the restaurant: Creamy with a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg. Delicious whether served warm or cold with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top. Also, if prepared ahead, rice pudding makes a quick breakfast in case you're too much in a hurry to make oatmeal. -- posted by Rachael Potter
