Resurrection Buns (Sweet Easter Buns)

These buns form a 'hollow' in the middle after baking. This hollow represents the empty tomb when Christ arose on Easter. They taste very much like cinnamon buns. YUMMY! -- posted by MapleLeafLili Hill

Barbecued Pork With Cheese Cornbread

I found this in the Arizona Republic reprinted originally from the Chicago Tribune and thought the combination sounded delightful. Tasty and hearty. -- posted by Amber of AZ

Easy Scalloped Potato Casserole

This recipe is great for pot luck suppers. It freezes really well (thaw and cook when required) - and can be easily halved and baked in a 9" square casserole. It goes great with baked ham, is very easy to assemble and has the scalloped potato flavour without the fuss. -- posted by Emjay99

Paul's Grandmother's Easter Bread

This is my grandmother's yellow Easter bread. It is a beautiful recipe that we traditionally have/make for Easter brunch on Sunday morning. The tumeric does not flavour the bread, it only makes it yellow. The time involved is considerable, but the smell of the bread as it cooks and the taste of a fresh, warm slice is worth it. -- posted by Paul Werbicki

My Mom's Light Christmas Cake

I don't think I ever saws my Mom make a cake from a mix; she was a superb baker and all around cook, but lovingly remembered for her wonderful Christmas creations (let alone Easter!) amongst which is this rich and lovely Christmas Cake, that I can share with you.

In attempting this one, you need remember that it was "always on a budget", so the cherries, peel, etc are not the ones packed in expensive syrupy fluid, but rather the cheaper "candied" ones, often bought in today's "Bulk Barn"...
Mom never advocated drinking, but using white rum or brandy in place of the pineapple juice was not unusual, I just can't imagine her writing that out for dissemination in the family reunion cookbook I'm pulling this up from...

Where "fruit" is mentioned as an ingredient, most often this meant currants, in semi-dried form, but I'll go out on a limb and suggest chopped dried apricots would work well, too...(remember, this is a "heritage" recipe, Mom was into her 20's in the Dirty Thirties, when you worked from the cheapest ingredients, and there weren't a lot of choices!) -- posted by John DOH

"moose Milk"

An eggnog mixture of old, always enjoyed on January First!

A note here is the selection of the rum; there are many favourites, but I would advocate for Lemon Hart Dark, as being the best "mixing" rum to go with the eggnog. (yes you can do this with white tum, Rye, or even Scotch and Brandy, but I wouldn't thank you for the last two!)

Black Magic Coffee, Sugar Free-Fat Free

This is my own creation. I made it for a regular coffee mug but for a "Grande" simply double everything and use a tall latte mug. If you want to go all out for guests or your sweetie leave room at the top of the mug for a wallop (forget the dollop!) of whipped cream and sprinkle it with shaved bittersweet chocolate and finely crushed hazelnuts. Time for making this is after the coffee is brewed. -- posted by Annacia

Cathy's Toffee Blondies for C-A-C-H-E

Oooey, gooey and oh-so-good you'll want to eat 'em all! But really, save some for the next day or two, as they get better with time...and willpower is a good thing to test from time to time! A good friend brought over a batch of these little beauties as a thank you for hosting a homeschooling (CACHE = Coulee Area Christian Home Educators) function. I've made this right in the baking pan, too---with very good results.
This is my own diabetic, lighter, version of a high fat and sugar scone recipe. It comes out simply delicious though and you won't have to apologize for them being healthy.
Farmhouse Holidays Double Chocolate Praline-Fudge Cake

Snowflakes drifting by the frosty windows, but inside we're listening to Christmas carols and decorating cut-out cookies. Dad comes and stomps the snow from his boots. Christmas Saturday, and we're ready for a piece of this special fudgy cake to load up our plates, with a glass of icy milk alongside. COOKING TIME includes chilling the cake.
Christmas Tree-Hunting Punch

Brew up a batch of this, pour into thermos jugs and insulated cups, hop into the car and drive to the Tree Farm to find your perfect Christmas tree. This will warm you up while you traipse through the rows and rows of trees. When you find the perfect tree, then pour a cup of punch, nibble on some Christmas cookies you also thoughtfully packed (needing nourishment after all that hunting!), and enjoy the scenery. If you're lucky there will be some beautifully falling snowflakes to add to the anticipation. Double or triple the recipe for a crowd--this freezes and thaws nicely for another occasion, too. You can adjust this and make it in the crock-pot too.
Getting the kids ready and out the door in time for the traditional Lutheran church's Christmas Eve Children's Worship Service is made MUCH easier with this recipe on hand. Get things ready ahead of time, make a loaf of garlicky French bread, and before the little whipper-snappers have time to realize what's happened, you've eaten a healthy AND festive supper, AND are STILL out-the-door in time for church to hear the story and sing the carols of the Birth of Our Savior!
Coyotes Blue (Or Yellow) Cornmeal Bread

The blue cornmeal makes for a beautiful presentation but it tastes just as delicious with yellow. Toast pinenuts on a cookie sheet at 350°F for 5 minutes. Best served warm.
