Colombian Tamales

This is one of my husband's favorite "Comfort Foods" (he's Colombian). He even said I made it right the first time I tried! The process is relatively involved - overnight marinating is recommended and it steams for three hours. It is nothing like Mexican Tamales or "Hot Tamales". These are wrapped in banana leaves rather than corn husks, are much larger, and not as spicy hot. -- posted by Ice Cool Kitty

Blackberry BBQ Ribs

Blackberries were on sale and so after looking at a lot of BBQ recipes, I put together this recipe! I threw in a pack of blackberries - not sure if it was six or eight ounces, but it was somewhere in there :) Also, I use organic, low salt and low sugar ketchup... you might want to lower the soy sauce if you ketchup is salty. -- posted by Abi Q

Debbie's Spaghetti Sauce

I finally tried to measure as best as I could the ingredients to make my sauce. This recipe makes a lot because I make it for OAMC and freeze in smaller portions. The key to this recipe is to make sure you cook it long and slow and until the spareribs are tender and falling off the bone, about 6 hours. I got this recipe from an old Italian woman aout 30 years ago whose name I don't remember. -- posted by Mainely Debbie

Nif's No Fail Pork Ribs

This recipe is for my neighbour. She used to spend so much time making the perfect ribs. Not too dry, not burning on the BBQ, cooked just right. I mentioned my rib recipe to her, she tried it and has never gone back! The nutritional value listed here is not right for this recipe because the cooking method removes so much fat. I suggested the BBQ sauce that I like, but I find sauces vary so much, I thought that it was best to pick your favourite. I also included the longest option for the cooking time. Here you go Judy - Enjoy! -- posted by Nif

Crock Pot Sweet and Savory Ribs

Tender fall off the bone ribs. I found this recipe at Obesity Help. The recipe was posted by hear_me_roar. My family really liked these ribs. My ribs just fell apart when I picked them out of the crockpot. My ribs were done in 6 hours. When I made this ribs I used 3 pounds pounds of boneless ribs. I used sliced regular onions for the scallions. I used regular molasses for blackstrap molasses. I used apple cider vinegar for white wine vinegar. I used canola oil for sesame oil. I used minced garlic for the garlic clove. -- posted by internetnut

Best Chinese Baby Back Ribs

From the Great RIBS Book by Hugh Carpenter and Teri Sandison (outstanding little book). I used a 4 pound pork sparerib slab for this recipe and their oven/roasting method and it turned out fabulous. According to the book, you need to remove the membrane on the bony side, if you don't the ribs will be tough. -- posted by Pi-E

Tony Roma's Carolina Honey Barbecue Sauce

This is a great copy cat recipe I found in searching the internet (I'm sorry I can't remember the source) for a clone of my husband's favorite ribs. At Tony Roma's they use pork baby back ribs for the Original Ribs and pork spareribs for the Carolina Honeys. I think you could probably use either. Others have made this without grilling and say the ribs still turn out great. Grilling helps to caramelize the sauce. Sauce can of course be made ahead and refrigerated. -- posted by Cafe Jen

Ribs With Dry Rub and Smoky BBQ Sauce

Barbecuing isn't always a piece of cake. A common complaint is that food burns too easily on the grill - people tend to to cook at temperatures that are too high, whch cause flareups. We also poke and prod a little too much, losing valuable juices, and don't trust that food will readily come off the grill when it's done.

If food is left alone to caramelize, it should not stick. Otherwise a few tools go a long way!! a water-filled spray bottle helps keep flare-ups in check. Using tongs rather than forks for turning keeps the skin from being punctured, and using a meat thermometer means you don't have to cut into the meat before it's ready.

These ribs, BBQ'd with the these suggestions, will be the best tasting ribs that you will have on th BBQ!! ENJOY!!! -- posted by Chef mariajane

Hawaiian-Style Braised Pork With Stir-Fried Cabbage

This is a recipe that I found online and can't wait to make it. Here's what the author said.
"My wife, Jean, and I run a coffee farm on the Big Island of Hawaii," writes George Fike of Keauhou Mauka, Hawaii. "I really love to cook, so we entertain a lot, and I enjoy planning the dinners as much as I do making them. I tell people the best restaurant in town is our house! Since I do most of the cooking, recipes must either be relatively fast or look after themselves. My recipe for Hawaiian-style pork has both of those qualities. It's based on the traditional Hawaiian kalua pig, in which the meat is steamed in an underground oven. For this version, you don't have to dig a pit in your back yard, and once everything's in the pot — which involves chopping a few ingredients — it cooks slowly but doesn't require a lot of attention."
Complete this main course with steamed rice. -- posted by lazyme

Slow Smoked Pork Ribs

temperature about 200 degrees, smoke and patience. A full rack of ribs can be smoked in about 4 hours but do take the time and go the distance. The longer you smoke the more flavor you will get.

I'm using a mustard rub to form a nice crust. Remember that you need to hit an internal temperature of 165 F before they can be served. Have a meat thermometer ready. -- posted by ~Rita~

Yummy Ribs - Baked & BBQ'd - Easy!!

This is a recipe discovery (and my first posting of a recipe) but I've gotten so many amazing recipes off this site that I thought I owe it to the site to post an amazing and super-easy rib recipe. The delicious part of this is that it is so completely HANDS OFF that they can cook all day with a quick finish on the bar-b and your guests will be crooning for hours. Make lots - they go quick!! I should mention this recipe is so flexible - adjust however you like and you'll still get an amazing result!! I like to serve it with baked sweet potato (simply chop up a sweet potato, wrap in foil, and throw them in the oven for the last 30-45 mins) and coleslaw. mmmm goood. You can also "improve" any store bought sauce by adding ketchup, brown sugar or maple syrup or honey to suit your tastes - if you like garlic, add that too for a personalized "wow" result. -- posted by pamcake

To Die for Barbequed Ribs

If you are looking for a rib recipe that is not your regular BBQ sauce kind of thing - look no further. The original recipe is called Vietnamese Style Barbequed Ribs from the 'Cocktail Chef'. My husband has made this recipe many times and it never fails to bring in rave reviews. The flavours are asian inspired and wonderful. The marinade can be frozen and re-used a 2nd time; the 2nd use gets a spicier note. Our kids (9 & 7) love the recipe, so it is also kid friendly and not too spicy even when using chilies. You need to prepare in advance as a long marinating time is required (24-48 hours). Don't look to closely at the calorie count as the marinade packs a lot of calories that are not consumed -- posted by Deantini

Dry Garlic Ribs-Canadian Chinese Style

This is the recipe for the true Canadian-Chinese type of ribs very popular around Ontario, Canada. You can't find these state side, unless you have this recipe!! Having grown up on the canadian border near Cornwall, Ontario in a town named Massena, NY, most of my relatives were from the canadian side so we crossed the border frequently and ate at the many chinese restaurants there. These are very sweet, sticky and delicious! You can use babyback pork ribs, country style pork ribs. This also turns out great using beef ribs, too. I've even used this recipe to cook boneless, skinless chicken in...it's just that good. Very simple ingredients, but don't let that fool you!! You'll see! I also find that you don't have to parboil them like some folks do..I cook them right in the sauce in the oven...gives them more flavor. -- posted by Mishkapett
