Tahitian Sweet Potatoes With Fei (bananas)

Spicy and creamy without being overly sweet. I used 2 tbsp. curry paste and I think 4 Thai chiles and it was moderately spicy. That might be too hot for some, so cut back if you don't want it to be hot. I served this with "Thai Marinated Pork with Dipping Sauce- recipe 81667" and "Poat Dot - Cambodian Grilled Corn recipe 38475" and it made a wonderful dinner.
Prize-winning Polynesian Pork over Rice

I recently inherited my Great Aunt's recipe collection. This is a recipe from her recipe box that she clipped out of the Chicago Tribune. It had won the "$5 Favorite Recipe prize." From the splatters on the clipping, I imagine my Aunt enjoyed this one. These days,I might try browning the meat in a little olive oil instead of the bacon drippings. Despite the name, I doubt this is a traditional Polynesian dish, but rather is one inspired by Polynesian cuisine. -- posted by HeatherFeather

Hawaiian Honeymoon Cake

This recipe came about as I searched for a recipe for my future sister-in-law's Hawaiian-themed bridal shower. I found several recipes that sounded good, but not quite right, so I combined and modified them to make this one. This is a very moist cake that is somewhat Twinkie-like in flavor (if Twinkies had coconut!). The fruit is pulverized and while it adds to the flavor of the cake, you really can't pinpoint that there's fruit in it. I winged the frosting recipe, and it came out good. This makes a thick and custardy frosting, and the fruit is more perceptable here. If you prefer a lighter and fluffier frosting, add in more Cool Whip. The unflavored gelatin keeps the frosting firmer longer. -- posted by Vino Girl

Tropical Shrimp Paella

I made this for the first time last night on an almost dare, my cooking skills are not amazing, I am not sure where the recipe originates, my friend gave it to me, anyway it was amazing, to me anyway! It looks difficult and lengthy but it really is not, just takes time to get it together but I love chopping. Prep and cooking time is estimated. -- posted by Jellyqueen

Alan Wong's Pineapple-Mango-Macadamia Nut Relish

This relish is so good, our friends have been known to beg us to allow them keep the leftovers. Serve with grilled fish, chicken, or even by itself as a salad. The relish can be used immediately, but I like to refrigerate it for an hour or two to allow the flavors to mingle. You can be pretty liberal with the hot sauce because the pineapple and mango balance the fire, but use caution if you use habanero peppers together with an extreme sauce such as Dave's Insanity. The original recipe was published in The Seattle Times c. 1993 -- posted by brianl

'ohana Breakfast Bread

Adapted from a delicious bread served at Disney's Polynesian Resort. Ohana means "family". The pineapple and coconut give it a truly tropical taste! I have found using the food processor makes the dough fool-proof, and I mix my yeast mixture in a large Pyrex measure so it is easier to pour into the processor. -- posted by Chef Luvfood

Hawaiian Chili

This is a great alternative to a traditional chili. It is especially great for Spring and Summer as it is much lighter and a bit sweet and spicy. It is very easy to make and can even be done on a camping trip as the ingredients (except for the cheese and bread) are all canned or dry.

I actually dreamed about this recipe, woke up the next day and wrote it down. I have never found a similar chili so I consider this a one of a kind creation. I love it for lunch or supper, especially with a slice of swiss cheese melted on top and slice of buttered french bread.

It is even better the second day as all the flavors get a chance to meld together. -- posted by clownes

This hot appetizer is made of chicken strips marinated in soy sauce, pineapple juice, passion fruit juice and ginger. I made this for the Tapas party my friend was going to have. Just a different twist on things! -- posted by Manami

Grilled Pineapple With Basil and Mint

My favorite thing thing to make on the grill is pineapple. Grilling fresh pineapple brings out the sweetness of it. This recipe really takes it up to another level in flavors. It is fancy enough for guest and easy enough to make anytime. I like it with spiced rum too. -- posted by Jess4Freedom

Mangoes Foster With Creme Fraiche (By Bobby Flay)

I first saw Bobby Flay prepare this on the Food Network in 2007. It was a featured recipe during a segment called "Boy Meets Grill" in the episode called Dinner on the Grill. It looked so good so I just had to try it. It was an immediate hit with my family. I have made this on the grill (as Bobby Flay prepared it) as well as on my stovetop, and it comes out fantastic each time. -- posted by NorthwestGal

Polynesian Curry

My mom used to make this delicious Polynesian recipe when I was a kid. I just love the different toppings you can add to this basic coconut curry base. You can make it as spicy or as sweet as you want. -- posted by Krista Roes

Pacific Pork Roast With Pineapple

I've had this recipe forever, and had forgotten all about it. Dug it out when I remembered it, cuz it is sooo good. It takes a while, but it's not difficult. Great combination of flavors! There's usually extra stuffing...just bake it in a dish along side. If you like a little heat, use a hotter pepper like an Anaheim chile, or New Mexico chile. -- posted by Charmie777
