Hawaiian Honeymoon Cake

This recipe came about as I searched for a recipe for my future sister-in-law's Hawaiian-themed bridal shower. I found several recipes that sounded good, but not quite right, so I combined and modified them to make this one. This is a very moist cake that is somewhat Twinkie-like in flavor (if Twinkies had coconut!). The fruit is pulverized and while it adds to the flavor of the cake, you really can't pinpoint that there's fruit in it. I winged the frosting recipe, and it came out good. This makes a thick and custardy frosting, and the fruit is more perceptable here. If you prefer a lighter and fluffier frosting, add in more Cool Whip. The unflavored gelatin keeps the frosting firmer longer. -- posted by Vino Girl

Hawaiian BBQ Chicken Quesadillas

I happen to love those BBQ chicken pizzas, especially with a little pineapple on top. So here's a lunch time creation when pizza dough or bread was not an option. Quick and so good! If I cook chicken for this I boil a chicken breast (can be frozen to begin with, just drop it in the water). After about 15-20 minutes just cut open the chicken to see if it is cooked all the way through and ready to use. If the chicken breast is defrosted it takes much less time, but time is estimated. I would encourage others to change this recipe up to create other pizza favorites making a pepperoni quesadilla, meat lovers, hawaiian, chicken alfredo, etc. Get creative! Pizza anyone? -- posted by Sabia

Fresh Pineapple Pie

We're all familiar with fresh strawberry pies cloaked in a glace topping. In this pie, it's fresh pineapple tidbits that are cloaked in a luscious glaze. In other words this pie is a kissing cousin to the strawberry glace pie. The recipe was printed in the Jacksonville, Florida, newspaper by food editor Joel Crea who said that this was one of the best-received recipes the newspaper has printed. Included is a wonderful nut crust which you can use in a number of other pie recipes which call for an ordinary graham cracker crust. I haven't tried this yet, but wanted to share it for those of you who would like something different for your summer menus. -- posted by Lorraine of AZ

Hawaiian Bubble Bread

This recipe came from Cooking Light’s 20th Anniversary issue, and was voted by staff as the Best Yeast Bread in the magazine in its 20 year history. “This irresistible sweet yeast bread is a staff favorite. Dough is shaped into balls – ‘bubbles’ – and layered into a tube pan.” Because it’s a yeast bread this recipe takes a bit of time, but it’s well worth it! Prep time includes time allowed for dough rising. -- posted by Julesong

Hawaiian Chili

This is a great alternative to a traditional chili. It is especially great for Spring and Summer as it is much lighter and a bit sweet and spicy. It is very easy to make and can even be done on a camping trip as the ingredients (except for the cheese and bread) are all canned or dry.

I actually dreamed about this recipe, woke up the next day and wrote it down. I have never found a similar chili so I consider this a one of a kind creation. I love it for lunch or supper, especially with a slice of swiss cheese melted on top and slice of buttered french bread.

It is even better the second day as all the flavors get a chance to meld together. -- posted by clownes

Hawaiian Tea Bread

I love this bread. It's so moist and versatile. I make it for breakfast, brunch, tea parties, and even desert. I like to use a mini loaf pan and give the loaves as gifts in a gift basket along with other "Hawaiian" treats. I also use valtrompia bread tubes in different shapes and then slice. The slices look so pretty on a plate. If you use the bread tubes, be sure to fold wax paper to fit over both ends of the tubes before fitting the lids on. I learned this recipe when I used to be a consultant for Pampered Chef. -- posted by JeanieK
