Hummingbird Nectar

This is my little hummingbird friend's favorite nectar. I know some people don't add the coloring, but my little hummer refuses to drink unless it is red. If you have a less picky humminbird then you don't need to bother with the coloring. I have heard conflicting informations from "experts" regarding the use of food color. If your hummingbird doesn't object...leave it out...mine does object and hasn't had problems so I use it. Simple and wholesome - Rei, my Japanese spitz puppy would beg for these! Use any baby food you like as long as there's no onions in the it (some dogs may be allergic to corn too). BTW if your dog is sensitive to wheat, you can also use brown rice flour although amount may vary. Just mix till u get a slightly sticky dough that you roll into balls with. -- posted by WaterMelon

The perfect horse treat recipe made by me! My horse absolutely loves them and they will keep for about 2 - 3 weeks depending on hardness. To make the cookies harder use less molasses and for more stickiness and darkness use more molasses. These are great for teething puppies. I wash and re-use the pudding cups and applesauce cups from the kids lunches. **UPDATE: My youngest puppy seems to be allergic to wheat or corn. We haven't figured out which one. As a precaution, I now omit cream of wheat, wheat germ and whole wheat flour for her. This is great for older less active dogs who could use the protein, but not the fat, of meat. And just to be clear, despite what one chef had to say about garlic, oil, and the lot, my vet had no problem with this recipe, says my dog benefits from it, and attributes her wonderful health at her old age in part to her diet. These are great for birthdays! Some carob chips can be melted and used for "frosting." Feel free to add other ingredients such as sunflower seeds (without the shell), nuts, carob chips, shredded carrot, or diced apple. Crunchy peanut butter can be used instead of smooth. If your dog is listless, has an unset stomach and/or vomiting, this is what my veterinarian suggested I feed my dogs. It works every time. Even if they won't eat anything else, they will usually eat some of this food and it is easy on their tummies. I have passed this along to a lot of my friends and it has always worked on their dogs too. Time does not include time for cooking rice. This one is my modification of Recipe #91152, adjusting it to utilize an entire one pound container of chicken livers. (The cat is the only one in the house who likes liver.) I also poach the livers before chopping to make them keep better in the fridge. Smoki loves this recipe, and it is cheaper than premium cat food.
