This recipe is from Bird Watcher's Digest. I prefer using peanut butter because it doesn't melt outdoors in the summertime like grease does and birds love it! Cooking time does not include overnight refrigeration. -- posted by txgammi

I adapted this recipe for my dogs because I wanted something relatively low fat (they have to go to the vet pretty soon and I don't want her to call them Snausages again) that they'd like. I didn't want to use dairy products or garlic because of possible adverse effects on the girls. I've tested these out on the girls and they seem to really like them. -- posted by Chicagopm

These make wonderful gifts, not only for the birds but the bird lovers. Hang the wreaths on the side of a tree, where they will attract woodpeckers and chickadees. I stumbled across this recipe and just HAD to make it for my feathered friends. My birds, 2 cockatiels, a cockatoo and a lovebird, go wild for this stuff. Those guys eat better than the human members of my family..lol. I love them dearly and really enjoy cooking up things to please them. Only the lovebird does not seem to care for this recipe, choosing a different birdy bread recipe for himself (the little gourmet) This is made in a microwave and takes about 30 seconds to make. Serve only as a treat!!***This recipe calls for 1/4 cup Rainbow Exact Pellets (available at pet store) but I was unable to list them as they are not exactly a "common" ingredient. -- posted by BirdyBaker

Puddin my pekingese loved these. They are simple and fun to make with many different flavor choices. I made them up after not finding a dog treat recipe using all my puppy's ingredients I had around for him. For our feathered friends who need our help in the winter! If possible use flexible molds or muffin pans lined with paper cups. If you don't have flexible molds, immerse the molds in hot water for several seconds before removing the cakes. They also make a nice gift for our human friends who like to look after the birds. It is nice to make this in one large mold and display the cake in your garden (in a safe place away from other animals!) Don't take notice of the yield because that will depend on the size of molds you use. You can also be somewhat flexible with the amounts given in the recipe, they will still turn out well and much better than any store bought cakes for the birds. They love them and my 'garden restauant' is always full of satisfied customers! If you have some netting to put them in you can hang them from a tree branch. -- posted by Pets'R'us

The perfect horse treat recipe made by me! My horse absolutely loves them and they will keep for about 2 - 3 weeks depending on hardness. To make the cookies harder use less molasses and for more stickiness and darkness use more molasses. Also, you may not think that you have added enough molasses BUT most likely don't add anymore, just keep mixing. -- posted by Reagan B.
