Dried Beef Casserole

Here's some good, down-home Pennsylvania Dutch cooking for you--dried beef is very popular here. This recipe proves there's more that you can make with it besides 'S.O.S.!' Serve with salad or a green vegetable and you have a meal that really sticks to your ribs on those cold winter nights. -- posted by Foxgirl

Supreme Cocoa Mix

I was in a search for a great cocoa mix that tasted very similar to the store bought kind. I tried a couple of recipes but they just weren't it. So, I combined a few of them together and came up with this! My family just thinks it is fabulous. You can substitute different flavors of pudding but we find Chocolate fudge works the best! -- posted by PAchefRebecca

Big Brother Ted's Veggie Beef "stoup"!

An extremely hearty, aromatic and very flavorful rustic type soup/stew. My dear big brother has developed this recipe over the years by adding & subtracting ingredients and perfecting his version! I'm honored that I was able to persuade him to write out and share the recipe! It's a stick-to-your-ribs meal in itself but be sure to serve with crusty peasant bread and a big salad! Nothing subtle about THIS "stoup"! I do believe he adapted this recipe from some of the soups and stews our mother and grandmother made (both restaurateurs)-and that may account for the quantity!!! -- posted by bestbema

Another recipe from the 1980 version of the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church cookbook from Muir, Pennsylvania that was given to me by my Nana when I became an adult. This recipe was submitted to the cookbook by Emma E. "Auntie Em" Brown. She didn't specify serving yield so I am making a guess. Also, the cooking time doesn't include the time chilling in the fridge. -- posted by Sarah_Jayne

Chicken Popeyes (Bott Boi)

I have been looking for a recipe my mom used to make us as kids, for a long time and someone helped me out in the Zaar forums recently and told me the real name of it. This is what I came up with after reviewing many recipes and concocting one of my own. I am thinking the noodles aren't quite what I remember so I will be tweaking them and may repost a 2nd revised recipe later. Since this is a stew it freezes beautifully, and it makes a lot so I serve half of it and freeze the rest for a quick dinner some other time. -- posted by DbKnadler

Spring Salad With a Really Cool Dressing!

I came up with this simple spring salad when my garden gave me a bunch of arugula coming up from last years seeds. Then at Trader Joe's was French green beans right from France. And fresh strawberries.................
I added spring scallions and my fabulous dill mustard dressing made with my Recipe #53926 giving this dressing a what is that flavor? But go ahead and use you favorite sugars........

This is truly a family tradition during the summer months. My mom makes it the best - I don't care how many times we follow the recipe - her's always tastes best - must be her touch of love that adds to the flavor.
Sherry's Infamous 4 Hour Chuck Roast With Veggies

I have put my own spin on things to perfect this basic winter recipe. (Unfortunately for me, I recently became a vegan...but my family eats it up!)
Rainey-Day Chilli

I can never find a chilli recipe that reminded me of my moms. So I made my own one day. I took what I could remember from hers and added some things. I just took a container to my pap for dinner tonight. I can't wait for him to call and let me know how it is. After hunting season I will use ground venison instead of the beef. -- posted by JLChic2814

16 Quart Chicken Corn Soup

My mom bought what she thought at the time was the biggest stockpot ever in 1998, and this is the first thing she made in it. I've always loved it and I make it when I can in my own 16 quart pot! It freezes really well, so don't be afraid to make it all. Cook the chicken a day ahead so you can refrigerate the broth to skim the fat off easier.
