"elephant Ear" Dutch Baby

This recipe is so named because the cinnamon sugar topping makes this pancake both look and taste a bit like an elephant ear from a carnival. Be sure to check it after 15 minutes of cooking and then every five minutes after that. Since some ovens run hotter than others, I've found it can definitely change the cooking time required. -- posted by 2hot2handle

Lorilyn's Deep Fried Stuffed French Toast

A light & fluffy coating on thick slices of Texas Toast, filled with a lightly sweetened cream cheese with a hint of almond flavoring.
This is a recipe I created this morning. DH & I were watching the Food Network last night & saw mention of a restaurant that serves deep fried french toast but no recipe or hints on how it was made. It sounded interesting enough to play around with so I browsed my kitchen & made a few notes on what to try this morning. I had Texas Toast & some cream cheese on hand & it occurred to me that I could make a filling to stuff the extra thick slices of bread with. This is the final result. We loved it & I hope you enjoy it too!

*Note - I used a deep fryer for this but you could easily do it in a deep sided pan on the stove or a deep sided griddle.
We tried these with my blueberry/raspberry syrup from Recipe #22066, with lazyme's Recipe #330075, store-bought orange marmalade and maple syrup. -- posted by **Tinkerbell**

Oatmeal Honey Waffles

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I often make oatmeal during the week - always with honey. This recipe blends 2 of my favorite ingredients to make one of my favorite breakfast treats -- waffles! Yummy! I generally serve this with a side of cinnamon applesauce.
***Please note -- probably not the best "in a hurry" waffle, should do this when you have plenty of time! -- posted by kittycatmom

Sour Cream Blackberry Waffles

An easy and delicious waffle recipe. The blackberries are sweetened before adding to the batter for extra goodness. This recipe is easily made lower in fat by substituting butter substitute for the butter, egg substitute, lowfat milk, and nonfat sour cream. I prefer whole ingredients. -- posted by Ice Cool Kitty

Paula Deen/Bobby's Whole Wheat & Honey Pancakes With Honey B

This recipe is from Paula Deen's The Deen Family Cookbook. I love the lime zest in the honey butter...something I never would have thought to combine. This is a nice hearty pancake with a touch of sweetness from the honey. For the buttermilk, I threw in a splash of vinegar to the milk, but you could also use sour milk. The only thing I'd do differently is use less butter in the skillet because it almost made the first couple pancakes look fried, but maybe that's the Paula Deen point. Serving size is Paula Deen's estimation. -- posted by AmyZoe

Nut 'n' Honey Pancakes Adapted from Brownstone Diner & Panca

This recipe is from Guy Fieri Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, and is adapted from Brownstone Diner and Pancake Factory in Jersey City, NJ. I used a buckwheat pancake mix which was very hearty, but feel free to use what you have on hand or prefer. I also threw in a splash of vinegar to the milk to make buttermilk. Guy Fieri says the recipe is missing the secret ingredient, but they're still very nutty and delicious! -- posted by AmyZoe

I had these for the first time on the deck at my brother and sister-in-law's home in S. Cal. They had such a declicous flavor, and eating outside made them even better.
Paula Deen: Bananas Foster French Toast

I'm not a banana fan, but I got a bunch of bananas practically free and needed to use them. For someone who loves sweets for breakfast, this is heaven. I used regular bread in place of the croissants and cashews instead of pecans. I found a teaspoon of butter was plenty, and only coated the pan at the beginning.
Grandma Joyce's Famous Waffles

My grandmother makes the greatest waffles I've ever had - and I think a lot of the flavor has to do with her special touch, knowing exactly how thin the batter should be. This is the recipe she gave me, and it is really tasty, but be wary that the batter s-h-o-u-l-d be kind of thin (like thin pancake batter). I sometimes have to use twice the amount of liquid because it is very dry where I live and humid where she's from, so feel free to thin the batter to your liking with water. Don't worry - you won't mess these delicious, buttery waffles up! Serve with butter and homemade syrup (recipe below). -- posted by Icedcacti

Blueberry French Toast (Oamc)

This recipe is originally from Fix, Freeze Feast although it may have been altered slightly. I usually make 6 at a time and freeze for my OAMC club. Perfect for brunch with maple syrup. I usually serve with a quiche for a complete meal. I sometimes use less cream cheese depending on who's going to be eating it. You can substitute 1 cup fresh blueberries for the pie filling but recipe won't be as moist.
Dutch Baby Pancake

This is a typical old-fashioned Dutch baby. We have it for breakfast nearly every weekend; it is made with ingredients we almost always have on hand. It bakes up puffy and golden brown, then sinks into a rich, eggy pancake. Plus, it can go from the pantry to the table in less than 25 minutes! -- posted by Madi Elbgal

Healthier Basic Crepes

This is my adaptation of Recipe # 55172. Unsweetened soy milk is best. (I'm lactose intolerant.) Reduce the sugar if you use sweetened soy milk. For vegetable crepes, omit vanilla and reduce or omit sugar. (It does not need salt, but if you must, you can add a pinch of salt.) For what it's worth, I am using an old Wagner cast iron frying pan, that's so worn I can't read the markings, but it measures 8 3/4" wide at the top (inside dimension), and cooking on a Frigidaire glass/ceramic cooktop. I started with the element set at 4 and then reduced it to 3.5 after the first 2 or 3 crepes. -- posted by Lianna Banana

Cheese Blintzes With Blueberry Sauce

The Old Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast, Salt Spring Island, British Columbia. Owner Gerti Fuss notes that these blintzes can be made ahead of time and heated just before serving. Put the filled blintzes on a baking sheet and freeze until firm, about 1 hour, then wrap the blintzes individually and freeze for up to 2 weeks. To serve, Fuss (who makes as many as 100 at a time!) defrosts them on a baking sheet overnight in the refrigerator, covered with a cloth to keep them from drying out, and then reheats them in a 300°F oven until heated through, about 15 minutes.

Whole Wheat Pancakes With Blueberry Compote

This is a refresh of a Wholeliving.com recipe. Martha Stewart's gang opts for low-fat buttermilk, but I never have that on hand so I trade in 2% milk or vanilla soymilk -- depending on what's in the fridge. The added wheat germ supplies some potassium and iron (it has more than any other food). I also add a teaspoon of cinnamon (because I love it) and cut the whole wheat flour with some all purpose flour so they don't taste too "nutty." To make the compote, you can use fresh or frozen blueberries -- up the lemon juice for more tartness and up the sugar for more sweetness. -- posted by Kristine at Recipezaar

Pineapple Oatmeal Pancakes (Gluten-Free)

Oh my gosh these are AWESOME! This can of pineapple on the counter was calling to me, and my husband can't eat wheat, so if I make pancakes they're gonna have oats in them. Plus, the Tahitian Pancakes came up on Heroes in the past week or so, so that's on my mind.
I combined two different recipes that I found online, one for pineapple pancakes and one for oatmeal pancakes. Neither one is like this new version though. SO AWESOME!
One last thing, I used coconut milk instead of cow milk, since my husband is also on this non-dairy kick.
This recipe makes A LOT of pancakes, and they're very filling. Store uneaten pancakes in the fridge and have breakfast all week! -- posted by kitchengrrl

I serve with scrambled eggs and bacon. -- posted by Madeline's Mommy
