Yakni Pilau (Chicken Rice)

This is the first dish I learnt as an adult and still it is my speciality... there's only one word to describe it... yum! When I'm cooking this for my husband and myself, I usually remove the legs whole, sprinkle them with spices and brown under grill, and then add the remaining chicken to the rice as per instructions. -- posted by baraahnz

Here is a family-style dish to be served any time of year. It is a substantial soup stew, well seasoned in Afghan style & combined w/a crispy-bottomed rice provides contrasting texture to stew. The stew & rice are served separately. -- posted by digitalchef76

Chicken, Rice, and Spices Bake

I got this recipe from my friend Kasey a long time ago (I have adjusted the spices to my taste) and it is very easy--even for those that just can't seem to get basmati rice to cook "just right". So long as you cover the baking dish tightly with foil, it will not fail! I brought this to a pot-luck at work one day and ever since this dish was always requested by everyone at all of our potlucks.***I am cutting the salt to around half since there are quite a few reviews saying it is too salty. I don't measure the spices when I cook so I think I guessed the amount wrong.***
*** the cinnamon amount should be 1/2 tsp to 3/4 tsp only, not 2 teaspoons. I have tried changing it twice now and get email confirmation that the changes have been approved but it still says 2 tsp of cinnamon. -- posted by ' =^..^= 'Ameera' =^..^= '

Ami's Zarda

Nice yellow fluffy rice with almonds, sugar and raisins. This is my mom's famous recipe. It's different from the traditional Zarda with lots of oil and sugar. Saving it here for my coming generations. -- posted by Ratatouilleee

Pakistani Style Chanay Ka Pulao (Chickpeas/Garbanzo Beans Pilaf)

This is one of the quickest & yet tastiest meal one can make in emergency situations. Although a lot of people usually have the same recipe for Matar (Greenpeas) Pulao & this Pulao. This recipe is way different than the usual Pulao recipe. This one is a bit spicy & more "masalay daar" as I call it. If you are not used to have it that spicy u can always lessen the quantity of chillie powder. A good tip while making any kind of Pulao is that after you add rice in the water mixture. Cook on a high heat till the water dries up completely & then cover & simmer it on low heat, otherwise you'll end up with a mushy halwa rather than your regular Pulao rice. Ginger garlic paste is also optional in this recipe. Yeah yeah I know its the core ingredient in Pakistani dishes but you can skip it if you want. -- posted by Bint e Naeem

Punjabi/Karachi Style Yakhni Pulao (Chicken Stock Pilaf)

After so many try outs I finally came with the right fusion for this recipe. Pulao is one of Punjabi people's favorite dish. Its a must serve on all occasions in Pakistan's Punjab province. If you don't want the Karachi style you can omit tomatoes, anise seeds and fresh mint. -- posted by Bint e Naeem

Saffron-Scented Chicken Pilaf (Pilau)

Fragrant golden pistachio-studded rice with moist and tender chunks of chicken infused with lemony yogurt and musky spices. This is a fabulous one-dish meal!
