			<description>I took another recipe that I posted and modified it to use shea butter.  Shea butter is so good for dry skin, as is aloe vera gel.  This is great on lips and dry hands.  Although the original recipe was meant for face, I have oily skin, so it would be too much.  I will be putting this on my hands overnight with gloves. 			<description>You can jazz this recipe up several ways.  Use an herbal tea instead of water (calendula is great for skin!), or an herb oil (like peppermint) instead of regular oil.  Add optional oils AFTER the lotion has emulsified or it may not emulsify properly.  Great oils to use would be almond, olive, grapeseed, or a mixture of any.  Don't use vegetable oil.  Tea tree oil and vitamin E oil will help keep the lotion from going bad.  Keep this lotion in the fridge and warm it up in your hands before using. 			<description>A recipe for our challenging economic times! This is coffee for when you cannot afford the real thing! Based on a recipe from Joan Ranson Shortneys book, How to Live on Nothing. My book is from 1971 and is still mostly relevant even today, except where she says to eat margarine! For me, this book is like a second chance at finally listening to my grandparents and great grandparents. :) For other country drinks, you may substitute barley, oats, or soybeans, as these were used during the Civil War; the roasted shells of acorns were used during WWII by the Germans (caution: do not use acorns unless you boil them first to remove their tannic acid). Im guessing on the quantity and will adjust accordingly after Ive made this. If you try this, please let me know what quantity worked for you. This recipe requires a coffee grinder, or some other equipment or method for grinding the kernels. 			<description>This sticky, spicy chicken curry is deliciously sweet and packs just the right amount of heat. It is to be scooped up with warm, chewy naan, then licked off of fingers.Your first step is to hunt down some curry leaves. Their flavour is irreplaceable in this dish - a bit nutty, warm, and citrusy. Used a lot in South Indian cooking, they have nothing to do with curry powder which is a blend of spices.Start by browning the chicken in a heavy skillet - make sure the oil is good and hot and the chicken has been patted dry before you put it in the pan. Dont flip it until it releases easily - if it is sticking, leave it - it will tear if you try and turn it before it is ready. Next, cook the onions gently over low heat for about 10 minutes to coax out the sweetness. Then add the spices to the pan to saute before the liquid is added. These three steps have a big flavour impact.
As far as curries go, the ingredient list is very short. Which makes it a great curry for beginners, if you can track down some curry leaves at an Indian grocer. I casually sprinkled the thick-cut Hemplers bacon with cayenne before frying to a nearly blackened crisp. Once the caramel had reached its perfect molten temperature I stirred in a handful of the bacon then reserved the rest to get sprinkled on top. The caramel set beautifully. Some were cut and served as is while a select few were covered in tempered dark chocolate. All of them were devoured.
