Indian Sqaw Bread

I made this for my children when they wanted donuts for breakfast and I didn't want to get out just as my Mother did for me growing up. It's inexpensive and quick to make. My friends and I now enjoy them with our morning coffee get togethers.
Apricot Almond Cinnamon Jam

I just made this up. I wanted something different than the usual apricot jam so I added some almond extract and cinnamon. When you open the jar you can smell the almond but it isn't overpowering. They both are mostly a background taste. It is a softer jam but not syrupy. Great on bread with peanut butter. UPDATE: It did jell up after about a month. -- posted by tasb

Fried Bread (I Call It Bannock)

This has taken me 9 years to perfect. First I was given the dry ingredients then for about 4 years I made it one way, then I seen my cousin make hers and knowing she comes from an awesome Fried Bread making family I tinkered with the water until I got the right consistency, that was another 5 years.

Amy's Favorite Indian Fry Bread Tacos

This is my daughter's absolute favorite meal and she requests it any time she can. She always has me make it for her new boyfriends' first meal at our house. Hopefully I can stop making them for that occasion because I really like her current boyfriend (UPDATE 2008: Guess I have to keep making these 'cuz the boyfriend turned fiance ended up being a DUD) :-)! Everyone always gives this meal great reviews and although it is a bit time-consuming, it is very much worth it! Start the Meat and Bean Mixture first and then when you take the lid of the pan to reduce the liquid, start the Fry Bread recipe so that they are still warm when you are ready to serve. -- posted by Sooz Cooks
