Fabada Austurianas

an authentic recipe of the spanish dish, fabada. i enjoy the dish for it's rich, meaty flavor which comes from the broth that contains saffron and juices from the meats. fabada beans are a special white bean that is grown ONLY in Austurias, Spain so it's very hard to obtain which makes it a little expensive. -- posted by Louis Pujol

Autumn Sausage Casserole (In the Crock Pot )

Easy peasy recipe adapted from A Year of Slow Cooking. After looking through the reviews at her blog, I see that cooks who used a 6.5 quart crock pot had problems with this cooking too much. My crock pot is a 4 quart size and I have not experienced that problem. I do think the stirring is a good suggestion and have changed the directions accordingly. You could use any sausage you want but the sausage does need to be partially cooked or smoked. Try chicken with artichokes, chicken with apple, kielbaska, Italian, andouille, or whatever sausage your family enjoys. This uses LEFTOVER rice so plan for that. I love leftovers. :) This could be gluten free if you are very careful with your choice of sausage. -- posted by WiGal

Mexican Style Crock-Pot Pork

I had a small pork roast and wanted to do something different with it. So, I started adding a few things to my crockpot and came up with this. You can use this as a filling for burritos, tacos, chimichangas, or even put it on a hamburger bun. My son thought it was even good cold. :) Submitted to " ZAAR " on July 27th, 2009 -- posted by Chef shapeweaver ©

Marmie's Really Tender Crock Pot Pulled Pork

I was fiddling around with trying to make a yummy Pulled Pork for my stepson Jesse's wedding rehearsal party. I did one butt in the oven without soda and one in the crock pot with soda. I had never used soda pop in a recipe before but I heard it was worth a try and YES it was! The Crock pot recipe turned out so tender, moist and delicious, (according to the thirty something guests...this was a real hit.) Well worth trying and very easy to make. A lovely outdoor or 'big game' meal served with a variety of salads and crusty buns. Oh, and beer.
Chorizo Green Chili Soup

Boulder sausage now makes chorizo. Best mexican chorizo I have ever eaten. I find a lot of chorizo a bit too greasy for my tastes, and Boulder's has a wonderful texture. Titling this recipe was tricky because after calling it "green chili" all day I realized it isn't really a chili, is it? So I am now in a lively debate with several friends about what, exactly, defines a chili. In any case, it's yummy. *nom nom nom* -- posted by Abi Fae

My boyfriend's mom made a variation of this recipe in the oven, but it was missing something... I added some sausage and some Frank's Red Hot and that was just the ticket to add some kick to the recipe! Preparing it in the Crock Pot slowly, allowed the peppers to cook fully, and really allowed all the flavors to soak into one another. (Also allows those of us who work outside the home, to prepare the meal ahead of time and cook it all day on warm!) -- posted by Candi Anderson

Crock Pot Sweet Potato Apple Pork Roast

This is an old recipe that I got from my mother, she never made it when I was younger because she doesn't like sweet potatoes. I have made this recipe now quite a few times and it always turns out moist and delicious. The mustard is optional, and I leave that out as my family doesn't like mustard, although I think it still tastes good with it. The sauce at the end is also optional, I have eaten it before without the sauce and it is still wonderful. The sauce adds a little extra touch though, but use it sparingly, or it will really overpower the great taste of the pork. -- posted by Starflower

Leftover Pork Tenderloin Crock Pot Chili

This recipe came out of a need to serve leftover pork tenderloin in a completely different way - my kids hate to eat leftovers of the "exact" same thing they ate the night before. I kept it pretty mild for tender palates, but you could certainly add any type of chiles, hot sauce, etc. Also, for the kids I put it into tortillas with cheese for burritos while my husband and I ate it in bowls as chili.
A great recipe for a rolled pork roast like the ones from Costco that tend to be a little dry & tough. The sauce can be thickened with a flour/water sauce for a flavorful gravy with pepper added. No salt is necessary as the condensed soup adds plenty!
Pork Roast to Die For

I needed something tender and delectable--moist and melt-in-your-mouth like, that didn't require a whole lot of fuss. One pork roast and a crock pot's help later, perfection. I can't even tell you. How. Good. It. Really. Is.

NOTE: When I say "boneless pork roast," it must be one of a boneless "blade/Boston/shoulder" cut. Every store labels them differently, but look for at least one of these labels. If it doesn't say that, don't bother. The roast should be well marbled, and have a decent layer (1/4-inch?) of fat on one side. -- posted by Battle in Seattle

This makes a good flavored soup. I am not sure how much it tastes like pizza, but it sure is good comfort food that you can make quickly for a nice evening meal. I know all tastes differ, so be your own judge on spicing it up. I usually add more than 1 tsp hot sauce, but some may not like that twang of louisiana hot sauce.
This is an easy one to make in a crock pot. The roast braises slowly, along with mushrooms, fennel, onions, and apples in apple cider.
Slow Cooker Sausage and Peppers

I received this recipe in a weekly email that I've been getting from McCormick's website. I made this one day when I didn't want to spend a lot of time with last minute preparations for our Sunday meal. Italian sausage(sweet or hot) gives so much hardiness to a meal that there seems to be little reason to serve much else. We had this over spaghetti, but it could also be made for a super bowl party, and served from the crock spooned into rolls or buns. Hope you enjoy this as much as we have. -- posted by bshemyshua

Southwest Chipotle Pork

An excellent Pulled pork recipe can be put on a bun or in a wrap. I usually use only 1 onion and 2 peppers. If you like spicy don't seed the chipotle peppers. I use 2 of them instead of 1.

If you wish to do this on the stove use medium heat for 2 to 3 hours and mind to add water, as a pot lets moisture escape and a slow cooker does not. -- posted by Matts Lotus
