Peachy Fruit and Yogurt Shake

I adapted this from Better Homes & Gardens Diabetic cookbook. I have changed a few things. They say in the testing kitchen, they discovered if they added a little vanilla extract to the shake, they didn't need a sweetner. Feel free to add a little honey or sweetner if you feel it needs it. If you partially freeze the banana and yogurt, you can leave out the ice. -- posted by Sharon123

Grandma Phyllis' Holiday Cranberry Salad

My grandma made this cranberry dish for every holiday dinner and it's one of my fondest memories. It has just enough sweet to balance out the tartness of the cranberries.
Strawberry Raspberry Smoothie

I made this completely by accident, and i love it! I use Yoplait thick and creamy yougurt, i think it gives the drink the best texture, and I also use the condensed frozen juice, welches white grape is the best, but apple also works, depends on how sweet you like it. I also found substituting 1 Delmonte Fruit chiller in polar raspberry tastes better to me than the frozen berries themselves. To each his own.
For a healthier smoothie use light yougurt, no sugar added juice, and skim milk. -- posted by Chef #1470073

I was looking for peach cobbler recipe that was a bit different and found this one at TOH. Dh ended up making this so that speaks to the ease of the recipe.
Apple Butter

Apple butter may be the highest use of the apple, especially some kinds of apples! This recipe works well with mealy, not-too-sweet "cooking apples," such as White Winter Pearmain, which we used. You may want to back off on the sugar, especially if boiling in apple juice. My mom and I started with a standard recipe and adjusted to taste. Note: Requires a food mill and a blender. Terrific on vanilla ice cream. -- posted by California Canner

Pineapple and Passionfruit Jam

I just got a new juicer and my husband and I had been drinking alot of pineapple juice lately. Partly because he has alot of meat in his diet and pineapple juice is very alkalizing to the acidity in our body. Also, we had been posted to Thailand and pineapples here are so cheap and sweet here.
It feels wasteful to throw away the pineapple pulp, and since the texture is excellant to make jam, i decided to make it for our yearly Christmas giveaways. I added passionfruit since I love the fragrance, and it turned out to be a perfect combination.
I couldn't find any pectin, hence I had to make the jam the traditional way, slow-cooking it. -- posted by Clabibi

Frozen Festive Vodka or Tequila Bottles With Herbs and Berries

Another GREAT Jamie Oliver recipe, and one that I am preparing for New Year's Eve! Jamie says you can use any spirits or liquor, but he suggestes vodka and tequila in his recipe. These bottles look SO festive and pretty, I plan to use holly, berries, bay leaves, fruit slices, ivy and woody herbs for my bottles this year. DO check that the liquor bottle fits INSIDE the plastic water bottle first! This recipe idea for serving liquor originates from Scandinavia.
Creamy Coconut and Rum Baked Pineapple

I came up with this as a solution to leftover coconut milk and a fresh pineapple. And even on Weight Watchers, it was worth saving points for this dessert. The whole recipe has a total of 8 points. The rum for this dessert should be golden- a light rum will not produce the same depth of flavour. Number of servings will depend on the size of pineapple used- increase the sauce if using a large pineapple. -- posted by Shuzbud

Apple Chutney (From the New Revised Moosewood Cookbook)

I love Chutney but it is expensive to buy. Apples are plentiful and cheap in Nova Scotia (and many other locations) so I like to make this one to accompany samosas and anything else that needs a delicious kick. It's also very easy. -- posted by GuarGum

Drink this before breakfast. Tastes great, is incredibly healthy, and you don't need a juicer. TIP: I prepare some ahead of time and freeze 1 cup in silicone muffin pans. I take it out the night before, let it thaw overnight in the fridge, and I have a constant supply. -- posted by Génial Génie

If you'd like to serve right away, use chilled red wine and serve over lots of ice.
Lorraines Famous Spaghetti Ring Fruit Salad

the grand children always want my mother in law to make this salad when they visit. It is an update on an OLD recipe that calls for a cooked dressing --she has gone modern and uses the microwave and add cool whip instead of making her own whipped cream. She makes about a triple batch in a big tupperware bowl and keeps the leftovers in the fridge -- be sure to stir leftovers and eat with in about a day.
Spaghetti rings are a little hard to find where I shop, You could probably substitute something like alphabet shapes or even fine spaghetti cut in tiny pieces but the rings are the best. -- posted by jobmom

A Trifle Decadent

This delightful, low-cal trifle comes from Canadian Homemakers Magazine /2004. Thickened yogurt and angel food cake replace whipped cream and pound cake to make a luscious light trifle. Berries can be frozen or fresh. Garnish with fresh berries and some mint leaf for a pretty presentation.
The custard part can be made ahead of time and yogurt must be drained of it's liquid ahead of time -- posted by Inverchef
