			<description>I just reviewed a Sugar Glazed Fried Green Tomato recipe on Zaar and it reminded me of a recipe I use constantly during the summer and it is not posted. My mother stated it was Swedish and my father stated it was German or Bavarian. Very simple and the marinating juice can be used in soups, stews or vegetable pies. Note: You can use raw sugar also.

			<description>This recipe came from my high school Home Ec. class (which I took 19 years ago).  I have never seen another tortilla soup like it.  I describe this soup as having a taste somewhere between salsa, tomato soup, and spaghetti sauce.   It is very simple to make.

I use 2 cups of water and two chicken boullion cubes instead of a can of chicken broth.  Also we like garlic so I usually use about 3 cloves of garlic.  The capsaicin is not only hot on the tongue, it is brutal on the eyes or in cuts on your fingers.  When preparing peppers you can wear rubber gloves to protect your hands and keep your hands clean.  capsaicin has a way of staying on your hands even after washing.  Safety glasses will help you avoid splashes or touching your eyes while cutting and cleaning peppers.
 The steam from boiling vinegar is very strong.  Avoid breathing it. 
Cooking your hot sauce will help blend the flavors together, break down pieces of solid ingredients and pasteurize the sauce.  It is an important step which should only be skipped if the sauce will be used up completely within 1 week. He says &amp;quot;If there is meat around, why waste the time on side dishes?&amp;quot;  He ate two HUGE servings of this......it is THAT good!  If you cannot find candied jalapenos, just use one small fresh jalapeno (seeded and minced) and a tablespoon of sugar....it is just as good.  We love curry, so we add more curry powder.  Taste it and customize it to your taste!
