A Late One Highball

This highball's sobriquet comes from the name of its prime ingredient: Ale-8-one, (say it fast!). Ale-8-one comes from a very small bottler down in Winchester, Kentucky and the folks who drink it are all pretty much addicted. If you're hot to try it, you can order it online -- it really doesn't taste like much of anything that you've had before. In any case, I IMPROVED it! *.* -- posted by Bone Man

St Vincent Rum Punch

This is a classic rum punch recipe that follows the 1 of sour, 2 of sweet, 3 of strong and 4 of weak formula. The way it is served makes it uniquely St Vincent, or maybe it's just that my parents had a fridge that made crushed ice! For whatever reason, this punch makes me think of St Vincent. I told my Caribbean friends that I made a mean rum punch and I don't think they believed me. After tasting it they all decided that we had to use this recipe at our next steelpan performance. (check out my website link for band news.) This makes a very strong drink that gets progressively weaker. See the note at the bottom of the recipe. -- posted by RonaNZ

Lime Refresher

Every party needs a colorful nonalcoholic drink that makes nonimbibers feel included in the fun. Inspired by the Bacardi Cocktail (a daiquiri with grenadine), this one has all the refreshment of that classic drink—without the rum.

Brazilian Lemonade

Funny title since this recipe uses limes instead of lemons. I found this in my Sunset Magazine today and decided to post it for ZWT 4 .
Kurdish Lemonade

For best results you will need Omani Lemons which are in fact sun dried limes. In Persian the same name is used for limes and lemons (limoo). Lemon would be called "limoo zard" (yellow lime). So when they translate, they call both limes and lemons "lemon". It is known to Persians that when you say "dried lemons" in English, you really mean "sun dried limes." you can get them at most Middle Eastern/Turkish store. -- posted by Stacia_

Homemade Ginger Ale

Homemade soda is so much better for you then store bought and this is really fun! What a great way to entertain kids and keep them busy on a rainy day! This can be lots of fun for kids and a fun way for them to learn science and math. Let them experiment by adding different herbs and spices to achieve all different kinds of results. I can see this being a very popular science fair project or even a cool home school project! Resting time is not listed in cooking time. Must 'cook' for two days. -- posted by mama's kitchen

Coconut Lime Smoothie

I was just wanting to try to make something new and this is what I threw together. You can't taste the spinach AT ALL. Tastes very limey - add coconut milk if you have it to balance it out if you want. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------What's great about this pairing is that the ascorbic acid, the vitamin C, in the limes helps the body absorb the iron found in the spinach. Without vitamin C mixed with the spinach, the human body only takes 20% of the available iron in the spinach! Drink up! -- posted by ThatSouthernBelle
