Lasagna Squisito (Exquisite Lasagna!)

This is the culmination of my lasagna experimentation... I didn't see another recipe here that was quite like mine, so I decided to share! I usually make my meat sauce with ground turkey, but it is good with ground beef, too, or "meatball mix," which consists of ground beef, pork and veal. You can also cut the amount of meat in the sauce by one half and supplement spinach, if you like. It's best to experiment with the seasoning levels as you cook, based upon your preferences... I add lots of garlic to mine, and if I am using beef or a beef mixture, I toss a splash of red wine in the sauce. I also make my layers very thin. Oh, and this freezes and reheats well, if you are the make-ahead type! -- posted by Foxgirl

Beef and Vegetable Lasagne

Combination of two recipes from "Cookery the Australian Way". Makes a big lasagne or 2 small ones. Recipe freezes well for --1 month when cooked; can be stored longer if final lasagne layer and cheese sauce are not added.
This can be easily translated to a vegetarian lasagne by leaving out the meat sauce (will only need --150g lasagne and half of cheese sauce), or by substituting a bean or lentil based mix. -- posted by Bungy

Skillet Lasagna With Italian Sausage and Butternut Squash

DH and I saw this recipe in a Williams-Sonoma catalog and tried it last night. We loved it! We used hot Italian sausage, as that is what we had on hand, and found we had to break the noodles a bit to get them to fit into our skillet. I definitely think this one is a keeper. Prep time includes resting time at the end. Cook time includes time to cook the lasagna noodles al dente, which is specified in the ingredient list, but not in the directions. -- posted by Dr. Jenny

Our Favorite No Boil Lasagna

I found this recipe a long time ago on a box or jar, we've made our own additions to it over the years. Everyone always comments on the great flavors and the secret is the sausage- we use breakfast sausage for a great slightly spicy slightly sweet taste. You can use any red pasta sauce that you like- we LOVE a roasted red pepper and onion flavor because it complements the sausage really well. Enjoy! -- posted by sarahbeier

Papa Roberto's Spinach Lasagna

This is a combination of several recipes I've experimented with from different sources. I think I've finally perfected it. I think the fennel seed is critical, giving the sauce a unique flavor. Slowly cooking the sauce is key in my book. Take your time, and you won't regret it. I like my lasagna rich and a little more dense than typical so I skip any sort of egg mixture and I go light on the ricotta. I think spinach is a must for lasagna, and makes you feel less bad about eating it. There is really no need for a side dish here. Everything you need in life is in the lasagna! -- posted by DiveAtlas.com

Barbecue Lasagna

Years ago, Mid 1990 I think. I was sitting around talking about how the Pizza chains had come out with BBQ Pizza when I got the idea of BBQ Lasagna. I was inspired by the pizza, my Italian family upbringing and my southern living as an adult. This may sound strange at first but everyone I have served it to for the past 10+ years loved it. I start by cooking a large 6-10 lb Boston Butt on the smoker ahead of time slicing off some for a diner and then pulling the rest for pulled pork sandwiches and of course BBQ Lasagna. If you are already accustomed to pulled pork you are ahead of the game. If not there are many great smoked Boston Butt/pulled pork recipes on the web. If this seams like way to much work (smoking/ barbequing is a sport and requires lots of time and beer) then there is ready made pulled pork alternatives sold in most grocery stores that could be used. Here is one I see in the stores. Lloyd’s BBQ Pork, search lloydsbbq.com http://www.lloydsbbq.com/products_shredporkbbq.aspI have not tried this but I’m sure it would be pretty good. I will stick with smoking and pulling my own. The same can be said for BBQ sauce. There is lots of good recipes on the web or use your favorite store bought brand. You can go spicy or sweet the choice is fully yours. Fact is you will find that you can vary this entire recipe many different ways using your favorite Lasagna recipe if you already have one. I like to think of this more as an Idea then a recipe. You can even trade out BBQ pulled Chicken, Beef etc. I will not use exact measurements for the pork or BBQ sauce as like I said I always make a lot and use what is left for other meals. I would guess I use somewhere between 1-2 lbs of pork in the Lasagna. I mix plenty of BBQ sauce to my pulled pork in a sauce pan and bring it to a slow simmer. (Don’t burn) You just want the meat good and wet with the sauce and enough to simmer but not so much it is soupy. It should be very meaty. On the flip side if you choose a real thick sauce you may need to add a little water to thin it out. You’re looking for the same consistency as a traditional marinara sauce to spread easily and be soaked up by the lasagna. -- posted by Pat (Chef #1185858)

No White-Sauce Lasagna/Lasagne

When it comes to making white-sauce I am a failure. I came up with this recipe out of a dire need to make a truly scrummy lasagne without using white sauce. It does take some time to make the meat sauce but it is worth it! Serve with garlic bread and salad - yummy! I live in the Netherlands where there is a minced meat mixture called 'half-om-half' which includes pork and beef. I usually use this rather than just beef but have no idea what the proportions of each are in it. If you mix it yourself please post your proportions so I can try it too! -- posted by dimensionally transcendental

Just a fair warning, when this says it has 12 servings just remember you'll keep going back for more. DELICIOUS! DO NOT COOK THIS IF YOU ARE HUNGRY!
Wonderful comfort food. Great served with salad and garlic bread.

This can also be made ahead of time and frozen. To freeze, line pan with foil. Spray foil with cooking spray and layer ingredients. Freeze in baking dish and then remove once frozen completely. Wrap in another sheet of foil and keep in freezer until ready to thaw. Place in baking dish and thaw completely, bake as directed. -- posted by Mrs. Sarah

Lazy-Day Overnight Lasagna

This is the lasagna recipe that I have used for years. I like the fact that you don't have to cook the noodles first. Found this in one of those cookbooks that you find at the check out stand. My recipe is getting tattered and worn so I thought I would post it here for safe keeping. Cooking time does not include setting overnight. I've posted the recipe to be gluten free, but you could easily use regular noodles in place of the brown rice lasagna. -- posted by LARavenscroft

I happened to get this recipe from the internet months ago and have already made it many times since I'm a big lasagna fan! I adapted it a little bit this time. Surprisingly the result came out so great. My hubby loved it so much and said this is the way in which I should make my lasagnas in the future! We ate it with some freshly toasted garlic bread. WOW!--so yummy:-) And of course, you can prepare in advance. Just let it cool and store it in the fridge for a couple of days and then microwave it on the highest temperature for 2 minutes and you're ready to enjoy! The leftovers even tastes better! -- posted by sasha's kitchen

Lasagna

My family loves this lasagna. It's the only way my husband and 2 of my sons will eat cottage cheese. This final outcome came after several years of tweaking sauces, cheeses, etc. It doesn't run and holds it's shape when served. Using the dry curd cottage cheese is extremely important for this reason. I have made it substituting imitation or veggie ground beef when feeding non-red meat eating guests. -- posted by ChrissyG1968

I wanted lasagna and I did a " ZAAR " search, and didn't have alot of the ingredients that those on here called for. So, I decided to make up one using what I had on hand. And if I say so myself it turned out pretty good ;). Now this is a very mild dish, so I think it would be very kid friendly. Both the stovetop and oven times have been figured into the cooking time.I know there are ALOT of steps in this but believe me, it's alot easier than it looks." ZAAR " wouldn't let me add parmesan/romano blend, but it's 1/2 cup divided. Let " rest " for 10 minutes before serving.Submitted to " ZAAR " on August 10th,2009 -- posted by Chef shapeweaver ©

Smart Chicken Lasagna (Outstanding!)

I purchased 2 packages of Smart Chicken to try out as it was buy one, get 1 free. Wow...really great ground white meat chicken! The taste is so fresh due to their method of air chilling and minimizing the use of water in their processing. This recipe is on the back of the package. It makes the most marvelous and healthy lasagna! I am going back to get 2 more packages just to make this sauce and freeze! The only changes I made were: grated the carrots, added 1/2 tsp. Accent plus freshly ground black pepper to taste.I also used 1 box of frozen creamed spinach as that was what I had on hand. This doubles well.
Queen Puff's Lasagna

This is a simple lasagna recipe with great flavor. Just add a salad and garlic bread and you're all set. I used to fix this with just ground beef but tried it with the Italian sausage (sweet) and liked it even better. Or, you can just use the Italian sausage. Almost as good with fat-free ingredients so give it a try too. It's good either way. If there is any left, you can freeze individual squares for the perfect quick lunch another day. -- posted by Queen Puff

Felix's Lasagna

I started with a recipe a friend gave me ages ago and adapted it to what I had and what I felt like eating. You could add some onions or garlic to the meat mixture if you felt like it, or use something other than mushrooms (or leave out that part entirely) if you don't want them. Whatever flavour or brand of spaghetti sauce is your favourite will work, as long as it's not one of the ones with meat. Excellent served with garlic or other crusty bread and a green salad. What I'm calling prep time is stove-top cooking time, and cooking time is time in the oven plus sitting time. -- posted by Felix4067

My Standard Lasagna

This is my basic easy lasagna. I either use homemade sauce or a really good quality store bought brand. There are four types of cheese in this recipe. If you like things spicy, by all means add a bit of crushed red pepper to the sauce or use spicy sausage. If I am adding sausage, I prefer to use mild turkey sausage in this, but it tastes really good with just ground beef too. -- posted by HeatherFeather

Sarasota's Full Proof Traditional Lasagna

This is my favorite lasagna, and is always the one I go back to. It is "fairly" classic, but I enjoy the mix of turkey and sausage vs all beef or beef and sausage which can be a bit heavy to me. A nice mix of romano, parmesan and mozarella and some red peppers in the tomato sauce makes this just a bit unique. I have many different recipes, including ... a vegetarian lasagna, mushroom, spinach and kale, mexican, and seafood ... but this by far is my ultimate standby. I really call this my Classic Lasagna. This is what I do: Layers ... 1) meat sauce 2) noodles 3) meat sauce 4) ricotta mix 5) grated cheese 6) noodles 7) meat sauce 8) ricotta mix 9) grated cheese 10) noodles 11) meat sauce 12) grated cheese. FYI ... These feeds a crowd, but I love to make it and then keep 1 or 2 pieces out for the week and freeze the rest. This makes a great easy lunch or simple dinner -- posted by SarasotaCook

Incredible Lasagne

I'm not sure where I picked up this recipe but it is one of my favourite lasagne recipes. I would even dare to say that it might actually beat my mom's recipe in a taste test! My spouse said that it is his favourite recipe in my collection and often suggests it for dinner parties. If you are looking for a low calorie meal, this isn't one of them... but it is worth the calories! -- posted by Kim A.
Crock Pot Lasagna

My sister found this recipe and loved it. She said it tasted like the frozen lasagna that we always get at Costco.

NOTE: This recipe fills up the crock pot to the very top, so it’s a very tall lasagna. -- posted by cmd28

Easy Oven Lasagna

I always loved my mom's lasagna growing up, and when I got her recipe I was shocked to see how easy it is to make! Yay for me, I like it easy. (My husband likes it with his mom's spaghetti sauce. It's a great recipe and it's called "Lynda's Spaghetti Sauce") -- posted by April Wholikesitez
